  1. What effect would the differences in LBS designs have I wonder?
  2. I touch a brake lever if warranted; not real hard to do and you're even better able to smoothly apply brake force if need be.
  3. Done the same combo with absolutely no problems.

    Performance

Looks great! Start thread with details and more pics please.
  7. Rear tire changes are MUCH easier even if you had to remove the stock 4/5gen exhaust. Try stabbing the axle through a 6 inch wide rim/190 tire/spacers/rear brake mount and mufflers on each side (RC51) by yourself. No chain alignment issues; ever. Stupid easy chain adjustments. And the number one reason: they look so fookin' cool.
  8. Over the years living amongst the white tail deer here in Texas, I've come to notice: 1) they can be found to congregate under large shade trees along the road at anytime of the day 2) more likely to be found near a water source (creeks, rivers=slow down) 3) Oct-Dec. is oak tree acorn season and they'll be found near/under these eating 4) game managed lands with the super tall deer fences along the road have less deer on the roadway FWIW
  9. Correct, CBR's use 3/4 gens.
  10. Ahh, the grass is always greener....... In addition to what Rob just said, exhaust routing would be a major PITA but not impossible. That's what makes the superhawk to vfr swingarm mod tough. Also, the vfr swingarm is longer than most swinging forks. The newer cbr series with its self contained suspension design might be longer than other styles.
  11. If you do a lot of touring and want the best chance of a signal out in the boonies, try an independent phone option like I have with tracfone. It uses ANY cell phone service provider (tower) available and costs as little as $8/month; plus, base model phones are like $20. Certainly not going to replace an Iphone or 3g convenience but it's a pretty cheap backup. http://tracfoneblog.blogspot.com/2007/07/t...ell-phones.html
  12. OH MAN I love the ingenuity!  Unfortunately for me and my pea brain, it's remembering to use it that would be the weak link (pun intended).
  13. It looks like the non-removeable mufflers' in pipes have been coated too. If so, did jet-hot have issues with that or charge more, etc? I'm not crazy about the straps covering the logos. I peeled mine off immediately after my initial sound check. I thought if they got too hot they might set and become harder to peel off. Sounds like (pun intended) you need a PC or similar to get the most out of the system.
  14. I forgot to mention that you need new springs. Mine came with aftermarket heavier springs so I don't know how well the stock F4i would work. My guess is that they would be too light in typical Honda fashion.
  15. I adopted an F4i front end to a SuperHawk about 5 or 6 years ago. The VTR front end is very similar to the VFR so I knew it would be a relatively easy swap when I tried it on my current 4gen. It would be a bolt on for the 5/6 gen. 5gen would need new triples, 6gen can use stockers. LBS would be eliminated. Length is a tad shorter (technical term) and I found VTEC triples felt better than F4i triples which have a tad less offset. You can use stock wheel and rotors. I believe VFR axle and spacers work too but don't hold me to that. Steering bearings are the same for all models mentioned.
  16. Having painted a wheel with spray bombs before, I can say the paint will chip pretty easily but since you did the polished lip look/scheme yours should last a long time. I forget which company I used but they did offer a clear for their wheel paints too.
  17. eli, I'm envious. Your chain looks very clean at the current setting compared to my first results. Here's my 4gen with the stock pro-oiler settings after an afternoon ride when I first installed it. The foamy bubble material is from a new tire install so disregard that. Due to many other circumstances including a highside wreck, I removed it to mess with it later. I'm hoping your settings will net me the same results when I re-install it. Shoot, I'd be happy with what you're concerned with! LOL Since my chain is not new like yours, I suspect that I'll have to endure the "cleansing process" of black fling for a while, huh?
  18. Sweet. My 4gen must be real clean with it's stainless steel TwoBrothers header! I think you need to remove the "less" part out of that sentence.
  19. Geez guys at least smile and pretend you're enjoying yourselves.
  20. AFAIK, there has never been a recall on any VFR r/r. There was a big call for it by frustrated owners back in the 90's. New r/r's were quietly upgraded in the parts department, even a new wiring harness connector but never an official recall. Again, AFAIK. The 6gen also had a stator recall/upgrade for the 02's. They could run down the battery in worst case scenarios: low speed running with the high beams on and radiator fans running. Think parade route kind of riding.
  21. Pretty sure that was tinyminds, but dyno's and tuners can very wildly IMO. He got 110 hp. But more importantly, Jason did a dyno run before and got 99hp, then did a run after install and got that 110!! So it was an 11hp gain as I remembered. That's why I was thinking 111hp. As 100hp is the typical stock hp thrown about. NOTE: this is with aftermarket mufflers not stock (obviously).
  22. Did you get the correct NEP model? Has the 06 and above changed throttle housings (don't think so but....)?
  23. As the discoverer of this mod, I thought the louder exhaust note and quicker rev'ing engine were positive signs of better flow. How much? I never found out as there aren't any dyno's near me. But IIRC, one 6gen owner put his on the dyno and with a PC3 tuned map got 111hp or thereabouts. Anyone remember this or who it was?
  24. Man I hope that liquid on the ground in front of you isn't gasoline also! (video) More pics please! :pissed:
  25. BEST VFR streetfighter I've ever seen. Very well done Gazman. :fing02:  I don't now what I like the best so it's easier to say what I don't care for: the 3 spoke duc wheel. I'd rather see a newer duc design on it (1098 anyone?).
