  1. Yep, especially Summit Lake area of Mt. Evans... like a bareback competition if you're too fast.
  2. One of my "local goals" is to summit Pike's Peak and Mt. Evans in the same day this summer. Two 14ers in a day should be a challenge. I'll stage out of my parent's Black Forest home just to get a jump on things in the a.m. Gotta start early to avoid afternoon Tstorms! 67 to Deckers, Horsepower Hill, Conifer, Evergreen, Squaw Pass would be the fun way but 25 to 70 to Idaho Springs might be the fastest. hmmmm My winter brain is churning!
  3. When I'm driving, I always look for an opportunity to hang right and wave motorcycles past me. I usually get a wave back as they go by.

    Huntsville

Funny Huntsville story. During my Air Force days I had flown into Huntsville and was at a local restaurant in my flight suit. 4 women came up and asked for my autograph - they thought I was an astronaut. Of course I obliged! They now have a mailman's signature.
  5. The side fairings seem a bit flat to me but that's better than going all Buck Rogers with excessive cuts and folds in the lines. Over all, I like it - even more so than the 7th gen 1200s.

I'm not big on orange but that is beautiful. Looks very similar to a late model Corvette color or a newer Hyundai color.
  8. 20 MINUTES AS ADVERTISED! I just checked in here for a quick refresher prior to swapping out my rear pads on my '07. I had done my pads on my last VFR but it had been a while so I turned to you guys for a mental wake-up. From removing the first lug nut to tighening up the last one....20 minutes. The only thing different on my 6th gen is that I had to remove one additional bolt to let the caliper pivot downward just a hair to remove/replace the left side pad. A few pumps of the brake to settle the pistons in properly and then I made about five stops up and down our cul-de-sac and all was well. Man, I LOVE THIS ABS!!! You can just grab a whole hand full of lever and stand on the rear lever and you best be hanging on because this bike stops right NOW! I would have never attempted a stop like that on my non ABS VFR. Obviously road conditions and mid corner braking still require more moderation but stright line braking is very impressive. (I used EBC HH pads) THANK YOU VFRD!!!!
  9. I just spent some time last week at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. These special places always bring out incredible emotions. Beautiful pic.
  10. Never, ever, thought I'ld sell my 4th gen but this one has stolen my heart. Givi Tanklock T-480, Givi Blade 46l trunk, and Leo Vince make it mine. Thanks for the feature HS.

    hmmmm.....and I thought I didn't like the 7th gens.
  12. Revzilla.com offers two Sport Touring screens for the 6th gen. One from Zero Gravity and one from Givi. I'm pretty sure the Givi will be my next moto-purchase.

The next best thing to riding is meeting people from all over the country. I had to throw in Jimmy and Caroline from North Carolina. I met them at the Echo Lake Lodge July 4th, 2013 after following them up from Bergen Park, CO. My girls are grown now but they reminded me so much of our own dad-n-daughter blasts through the mountains. Here's to dads-n-daughters everywhere! One last thing - his license plate? .....NEDRGR

    VFR SF 1

Looks amazing - something like a brand new Duca-prilia straight off the showroom floor. Would never guess it's 15 years old. Excellent work.
  17. One if the top things I miss from my 4th gen is the National Cycle ST windscreen that I added because it extended my comfortable riding days by hundreds of miles. I'm 6'-0" and 180lbs. I'm looking at either the Zero Gravity St or the Givi ST screens and am just curious about: *whether yours gave you the protection you were looking for or did the buffeting get worse? *Was the fitment acceptable? *Is one brand more succeptable to cracking than the other? *any other observations..... I know it's just a damned piece of plastic but at $80 - $125, I want the PERFECT piece of plastic! My last one worked like magic for me.

First brain flash = MV Agusta! Looks much more like a sport bike w/o being squidly. A+
  20. Looks like a good time. I'm spending my time mowing, painting, cooking, planting flowers, etc for my daughter's high school graduation this weekend. I would MUCH rather be on the bike! Enjoy - RIDE SAFELY!
