  1. Life is simple here. Just five bikes: MZ ES150-2, Honda CB350K4, Yamaha SR500, Ducati 900 Darmah, Honda VFR750 (RC24)
  2. Where did the plastic spacer/washer go? The one described in you first post and shown on the photo. If you tighten the axle around the inner rings it should propably not be between the bearings. Inner rings need contact. At least as far as I understand the function and the issue. If the original bearing is angular contact type and replacements are 2 x deep groove type bearings the original may be slightly better for angular loads which would matter if you have a sidecar attached or race. For common use and good quality bearings rather insignificant.
  3. Are you sure you dont have a short circuit in the brake light circuit ? It also sounds like you used a 24V truck battery charger. Something labeled 350A shouldn't be connected to a motorcycle battery.
  4. General speak: The torque affecting the crankshaft during any of the four strokes gives an accelerating/decelerating motion of the crankshaft. Of the four strokes of a four stroke engine acceleration takes place only in the work stroke and the produced energy is stored by the inertia of the crankshaft. The purpose of the springs is the even out the transfer of the net produced energy to the drive train. The pulsation handled by such springs depend on the motor type (2/4 stroke, rotary), the inertia of the crank/flywheel, the rpm, the expansion ratio of the combustion stroke and the acceptable running evenness. The remaining unevenness is handled by the rubber cushions of rear wheel hub. Carb sync issues also affect the springs a bit but their main function is as described above.
  5. UV /sunlight takes its toll on the red color and is the main cause of degeneration of plastic parts. Many people use sun protection of different kinds, but what do bikes use ?

A shot in the dark ...slippery feeling without slip or other sorts of undefined feeling could also relate to bearings in steering head, swing arm, wheels or bad wheel alignment or unmathced tire profiles. The lowering of the front influemces cog but it also affect steering head angle and front wheel afterrun, thus adding willingness at the cost of stability, so to say.
  7. Nice, @Captain 80s, you even have white cockpit and inner fairing. I havn't seen that before.
  8. If you fancy the RC24, here and there they later ('89) came with 17" wheels, 41mm front fork, 4 piece fairing, modified valve spring mechanism and a few other nice changes. If I were to buy a RC24 now I would probably prefer a '86 or '87 in good shape. Not for being better but for availability of parts (if ever needed). The one you are looking at seems nice but for a vintage enthusiast one with original paint scheme might make more sense. I still remember the wow-effect it had when the all white bike with white wheels came along.

  11. 0V on the battery terminals I would suspect either a measurement error or a short circuit. Did it accept charge? One thing that could drain the charge is if the starter solenoid hangs.

  13. Do you compensate for difference in piston weight?
  14. Is the idle settings depending on a temperature sensor or thermal switch? If so that could be something to look after.
