  1. I didn't think about installing Tyga rearsets on my VFR, should have though, as they make solid tuff. I installed these instead, and really like them so far!!! http://nobunaka.com/product/cbr900rr-95-00-adjustable-rearsets
  2. Has anyone ever put a bone stock, fully fueled 4th Gen VFR on the scales to see what they actually weigh? I've seen weights here on VFRD, but am curious to know what the actual wet weight of a completely bone stock 4th Gen VFR is....Mine has been put on a diet (not quite as serious as others on here), when she's done with her current round of upgrades, I want a baseline for comparison. Thanks all!
  3. I like the reference!!!
  4. I agree with Dutchy above, sort your suspension first, then upgrade your brake components. The stock suspension and brakes aren't bad, but can be easily overwhelmed if not properly serviced, and more hp/torque is added.
  5. I blended the cbr filler piece with some sheetmetal, then covered with carbon fiber. Ah, ok! Thanks!
  6. I have a spare gauge set. You can have it for the price of shipping. It's from a '96, and worked when I took it out. I upgraded to a set of CBR1000RR gauges several years ago, and don't need them any more.

    Very nice!!!
  8. I believe that I have GSXR coils as well based off the part numbers from eBay, and the CBR coils. I really din't know how much difference it'll make if any, as this mod seems fairly untested, exceprt for a few people. I plan on making my own harness tomorrow, and I might buy some CBR coils just in case.
  9. I don't remember what COP's I'm using, but this is the number in their top surface. Denso 129700-4420-J0440. I do not have a volt meter on my VFR unfortunately, but will install one eventually. I have to go into work this afternoon, but have plans on tackling this tomorrow, and Friday, so I can get her to the local dealer for new tires, and fork seals. I have a bit to do to her to make her ridable, but 2 days in the garage should get it done!!!
  10. That helps out alot, thanks!!! I really don't know why I didn't think of looking on eBay, but I'm glad that you did!!!
  11. I didn 't buy the subharness. In retrospect, that was probably a mistake. I do have the required parts to make my own subharness though. I can't tell from your pics, as they get to blurry when I enlarge them, but can you confirm that the black wire is the on the roght prong of the coul? Thanks!
  12. Cool, thanks!!! That's what I'll go with as well. I was also just guessing that since they weren't marked with a positive or begative terminal that maybe it didn't matter, but again, that was just a guess on my part.
  13. I have all the parts/pieces to install the coils, And I am back from my deployment. I just need to know which prong on the coil is the ground, and which is the hot wire, as I want to get the wiring right for the new harness that I am making. From what I have seen so far, it appears that the right prong on the coil is the ground wire, can anyone confirm this? I have the 2 prong coils btw. Thanks!
  14. Welcome to the forum! I was stationed at Nellis from 2001 to 2005. There are some really good rides out there, but you have to be careful, the drivers can be really scary! Red Rock was a nice ride, so was Valley of Fire, and Lake Mead as well. The canyons heading into George, Utah were also very fun, but had a high police presence, and it's not that close, but still worth it. Stay away from the Strip on Friday, and Saturday nights in summer, as your bike will get quite warm, mine would come very close to overheating in that traffic, so I avoided it at all cost. Again, welcome, and enjoy your VFR!
  15. I saw that as well. I think I'm going to try the new Pilot Power 3's though. I know they're more $$$, but that isn't the issue right now, being deployed still is. Fortunately it's still wicked cold back home, so I'm not missing any riding time. $79.99 is a really good deal though. I have used the Conti Sport Attacks, and have not had any issues with them at all, but want to try something different, and at that price, it's really hard to pass them buy.
  16. There was something about Triumph swingarm internals in the VFR swingarm somewhere out there. That may be an option for you as far as single nut rear wheels are concerned.
  17. Ok, so how does one go about checking the resistance of the coils? I am still deployed, but plan on doing this mod when I return, as I already have all the components.
  18. ScottL, I'm not very good with electrical terms, what does this mean? I have GSXR Coils, mas they fit better on my 4th Gen, the CBR Coils that I sourced protrude out to much on the front cylinder hear, and will effect radiator clearance. "The primary resistance was 1.8 ohms for the CBR and 2.2 ohms for the GSXR. The secondary resistance was ~12K for the CBR and ~18k for the GSXR. The VFR coil measured the same as the CBR."
  19. One minor possible snag......... Keny works for the state agency that tests/verifies vehicle roadworthiness and compliance with road vehicle regulations... Precisely, he's our man on the inside!!!
  20. Find Keny on the Forum, he lives outside of Hanko, Finland, and even though he has a 5th Gen, he may know someone that has a 3rd/4th Gen.
  21. For $1k? Yes, yes I would!!! The things that I could do to it...
