  1. Hi All I have had one of my OEM panniers crack. The crack is in the outer painted shell and is near to the hinge so will become a structural issue if I try to use it. Does anyone know if you can buy spare parts for panniers or will I have to buy a new set. Or indeed does anyone provide a repair service? I am in the UK. Thanks very much Pete
  2. I went for the 45 myself. When it is fitted you can't really tell it is there so the extra size is not really a factor. I found that for a weekend it is big enough without needing the panniers and when touring a combination of panniers and the larger top box is ideal. I don't regret my choice but I guess it depends on what works for you. Hope that helps a bit...
  3. I can help a bit with the Dobles bit as I brought my 8th gen from them and only live about 20 miles away. I use them for servicing as well and in the 3 years I have been using them I have found them to be very good. They are a pretty big Honda dealer with a row of about 6 converted houses on one side of the road for their new bikes showroom and another large building opposite for used and the service center. With reference to Cogswell and his damaged panniers I damaged a OEM topbox when I rode off without fitting it properly (I know what an idiot!) and it fell off on my 6th gen. It was in a state but I found a local car body guy who does minor repairs and localized paint spraying very reasonably and made a good job of it. If it is of any interest I can dig his details out?
  4. Noooooooo!!!! Sad day for all VFR lovers. The VFR suits my perfectly so I hope they replace it with something with the same DNA. Otherwise I have no idea what I will do when mine needs replacing.
  5. Thanks for the feedback all.
  6. Looking for some information please. I have just been arranging for a new set of tyres for my 8th gen. While shopping around some people have told me that the caliper bolts are stretch bolts and need to be replaced when they are dropped to get the wheels out while others have not mentioned it at all. Has anyone else had the same mixed message? Thanks all
  7. I agree with the gear indicator thread. I would be lost without it now. Why is it in normal life I can count to 6 without any issues but once I am on a bike no chance?
  8. In answer to the question of does it happen with the quick shift fitted, it does! Happened to me a few times. It seems to happen if you don't make a totally positive gear change. I think the system works by comparing road speed to engine revs and works out the gear form there so if you fluff the shift a bit it loses its reference and takes a while to sort itself out. As others have said it normally takes a few seconds to settle but sometimes you have to switch off and back on again.
  9. Thanks for your responses. They are 2 regular full face helmets (1 Shoei Qwest ans 1 Shuberth). I have the 45l box. From your experience it looks like they should fit so I need to just find the knack!
  10. Hi all I know this will sound like a stupid question but is anybody else struggling to get 2 full face helmets into the top box and close the lid? I can get them in side by side just fine but the lid will not close and if I get one in a place where the lid closes I cant get the second in! I had a 2007 VFR top box and it was really tight and you had to get the lids 'just right'. Am I missing the knack or just being a bit thick? Any help would be very welcome. Thanks
