  1. 1985 VF500F. Great starter bike
  2. I used a length of wood to help prying the rubber boots off. When I was reinstalling them, I got them hot and pliable in some hot water and they went on a lot easier. Congrats on the find. One of the best looking years.
  3. This was just before it visited Parliament Hill.
  4. I had a battery fry before I put in the monitor wire mod. It was up to approx 15.3-15.5 IIRC and after I did the mod, it went down to 14.3. Even after the wiring harness upgrade, I left the monitor wire mod installed.
  5. If you have ever experienced a battery enlarging and giving off a faint boiling whine due to too much voltage coming down the charging system, then a simple voltmeter would have saved the battery and a stranding in a remote town. It also indicated some poor maintenance due to a Honda shop tech. Everyone has their opinion, but I agree with TimC and the poorly designed Honda electrical systems.
  6. Wow. That is impressive!
  7. Great write-up. Thanks for posting it. It is on my wanna-do list.
  8. As others have suggested, the license plate light wiring has failed on quite a number of VFR's, mine included. I had no tail mod when it happened.
  9. This is reinforcing my desire to visit Sweden and Finland in my lifetime, hopefully on a bike. Thanks for the ride report.
  10. Heated grips followed by Sargent seat.
  11. You should contact Rivcyko. He makes huggers and probably has the measurement information for you.
  12. Glad your better half is ok and glad she had all the gear on too. Good luck to you both.
  13. A few years ago, I lowered my bike with a kit that supplied a new dogbone, riaer kit and new sidestand and it was thru someone who was a member of this board. This is not the guy, but someone that had a lowering kit put on and has a link to MTB54 (Randy) that was a member here. I don't know how active these 2 guys are now with the lowering kits, but certaibly wouldn't hurt to follow up. My lowered kickstand has worked flawlessly since installation. http://www.seantmurphy.com/VFR/#Lowering
  14. Sounds like mine. I love the rumble. Throaty, yet not overpoweringly loud.
  15. Yeah, and you shouldn't ride your bike out in weather that is threatening to rain, or be too hot, or too cold either.
