  1. They are, and they are sized identically.
  2. WSBK, hands down. The actual racing is so much better and the bikes are closer to what we actually ride/have access to. MotoGP is like F1 (that isn't a compliment as they're getting more like each other every year). My friend and I each buy one and share. I'm never going to pay for GP anyway...
  3. Follow up...I had a buddy come and take a look with me to ensure I wasn't out of my mind. It gets stranger... I checked p/ns of additional parts to find out that they are/should be identical. They include frame, subframe, swingarm, centerstand (you'll see why soon). The rear is visually much higher on VFR00 than on VFR98. Shock length and forks are setup the same on both bikes. Forks show as set up the same in the triple. Taking initial sag measurement confirms this. Shock length is verified (again) as identical in the bikes. Shocks are both 330mm. VFR98 went in smoothly with plenty of room. You may remember VFR00 shock was a absolute b%&th to get in. So much so that it broke and had to be repaired. Something isn't right. And with all of the extra room...shouldn't it have been easier to get in? For peace of mind, I measured a few things related to geometry and some others for confirmation of the visual. Bottom of axle to horizontal at helmet lock is 377mm on VFR00 and 366 on VFR98. 11 mm delta. Bottom of axle to floor on centerstand is 305mm on VFR00 and 295 on VFR98. 11 mm delta. No weight sag taken in same place is 377mm on VFR00 and 366 on VFR98. 11 mm delta. 11mm is killing me and I don't know why there's a variance. Anyone? With the rear in the air, shouldn't they be identical with the same length shock in there? Riding these two bikes back to back is night and day. The '98 is brilliant and the '00...sucks a lot.
  4. Going to have another go at this yellow bike suspension. It still isn't very nice to ride, despite the expense of suspension. With the forks set to the same place in the triples, the rear is WAY higher than the '98 when on the center stand. Something is absolutely wonky. Measured at helmet lock, rear is 15mm higher than VFR98. Measured at rear light, rear is 24mm taller than VFR98. Measured at side seat bolt is ~9mm taller than VFR98. My brain went to the challenge of installing that Bitubo set to the same 330mm as the '98 and the '99 before it. But with the bike on the center stand...it doesn't point to shock length. Open to great ideas, as I'm running out of them.
  5. Most forums have an auto-sizer built in. Not sure about the two VFR sites. From talking to others who run forums, it is an easy mod/upgrade for the moderator to make and all sites should have it on there to save time for...everyone. 🙂
  6. Exquisite. More pics please!
  7. The WSBK app is completely useless, filled with bugs, and crashes constantly. Even if it worked, there isn't much on it. It has been like that for many years. I don't understand why they don't fix it. I've written to them tons of times. The GP app is better, but still nearly useless compared to the website (which is also gone to crap the last few years with giant pictures creating endless scrolling, but sharing very little actual info without a LOT of clicking around...something that used to be taboo in design). I'm not sure if either is on Start TV apps. My new Roku Ultra came today. I'll poke around once I have the courage to set aside a week for "quick setup!" Let us know if you find anything! A few hints: To nav WSBK easily, you may want to choose the "news" link. You'll still get a site designed by kids w/1/30th of the data you want without scrolling...but you'll get news. If you select videos, they've "helped" again and separated them by their topic choices (not user/your filtering choices). Good luck. I hate it. You can see highlights "easily." My favorite is to select Calendar, then Round, then Schedule. From there a normal human can look at any given day, then any given event (race/practice/etc.) for any group and view results (text, thank the Gods), or watch the races directly from links on that page. If you set your initial link to calendar instead of the home site, you won't see results, which they love to post so that the race-watching is immediately ruined for everyone who was looking at that screen. I start on calendar for MotoGP also, but the interface was designed by preteen teletubbies. If you want to see more than one or part of one thing...you're going to have carpal tunnel from scrolling and clicking 72 layers in. As I'm fond of saying...Humans, the worst.
  8. 1-You're on an iPad. Sorry...I couldnt' resist. b-Know that even though MotoGP and WSBK have the same parents...the logins are different. And if you log in on one, it'll log you out of the other. At least that is how mine has worked for a while now, and it sucks. iii-The apps for both of them suck big time. I highly recommend just using the websites. They are much easier to navigate and offer a lot more info, including life timing on WSBK, for free (pay on MotoGP).
  9. Check anything that a human touched, and go through a checklist for tech that any track day org publishes. That should get you there.
  10. I can tell you this...I leave many of my zip ties long these days if no one sees them. The short ones cut up your hands when you're working in tight spaces!
  11. Does this make the blinkers more or less visible to other drivers?
  12. I couldn't sleep if I attached my master link like that. Is there any data on if they stay on under pressure?
  13. I've never owned anything that clean/undamaged, and I don't see any damage in your pic. I think that you might have the "I have too much free time" disease. Go ride it!
  14. I'm not sure what the pic sequence is telling me. Do you end up with a riveted shaft or one with a nut on it?
  15. I had the same year/color scheme, and an '86 and a '93. Superb bikes.
  16. Years ago, I would go every season. Quite a few years back, I skipped the one here around Charlotte and there was a shooting there. It would be hard for me to care less about new motorcycles, or about being around what we're calling humans these days. I'll stick to riding and forums. 🙂
  17. That's magic. I don't think that even with proper care, they're made to go that long. O-rings break down. Lube comes out. Rollers break. My VFRs have been ~20k miles nearly like clockwork. The track bikes go ~5k-6k miles. If you've ever seen what a breaking chain does to a calf...
  18. For reference, this is nearly done. lol
  19. 17/43 530, sizes are surely stock and they look stock to me. If either sprocket or the chain is worn to out of spec, you'll want to replace all three at the same time. It is a great time to improve the ratio. I love mine at 17/45 on the '98 and '00. I had the same on my '99. Wear doesn't look bad to me. I'd clean them and the area around them so that you can see them more easily. Likely the same for the chain. A quick Google search will give you good examples of bad chains/sprockets. (sprockets looks fine to me. share chain pics?) Here's what mine did at end of life.
  20. Post pics of FJ! 🙂 I had three of them before making the move to a '99 VFR years ago. Still have some FJ ABS stuff for sale.
  21. Let us know how you like them once you get some miles in. I went Roadsmart 3 on both of my VFRs, but wouldn't mind saving some dosh next time around.
  22. Brake pads close to end of life? Hardly...unless they're a lot thinner on the side we can't see. Clean them up with a brass brush and clean the rotors and run those suckers. New pads are only a few mm thick, so what looks like 1.5-2.0mm left is probably 1/2 to 1/3 of life left...so 10k miles?
