  1. Although I am going to put my set on m y 5 Gen, sans center stand, I am on the waiting list for Center Stand Stop for my 6 Gen. When I put a set of 98-99 cat-less headers on my 6 Gen, I had to come up with a solution. I came up with a temporary one. I went to Home Depot and bought a conduit hanger and did a little adjustment to it. In order to keep the tension of the clamp, I drilled 4 holes in the bend and looped some safety wire through it. Instead of a rubber bumper, I ended up putting a zip tie mount on the bottom. It worked great but wanted something a little more elegant, hence being on the waiting list for a new one.
  2. Just wanted to give an update for you all. I wanted to chime in earlier but I was helping a fellow VFR owner rebuild his entire 5 Gen braking system. That includes rebuilding all 4 master cylinders (3 brake and 1 clutch) and the secondary MC and all three calipers. Plus replacing the rear rotor (long story) and replacing the brake lines to stainless steel Galfer lines! Yeah long day and we got close but ran into a few SNAFUs and have to order a couple more parts, so we'll have to continue another day. Anyway, on to my update, yes we were able to get the first lot of 5/6 Gen headers finally, Whew! that was fun but in regards to those who are waiting for center stand stops. That's a sore subject at the moment. The second party we approached to handle this said they needed a bike with the new headers on and some sort of mock up of what we were looking for. SF had made a template that was meant to be used with a T-clamp and would have been able to work with either gen. However, the folks who had the task did not seem to not understand that the template was a concept piece and not a fully functional piece, it needed work and figuring out, which was supposed to be their job.. Well they took it as "Here, make some of these and add them to the t-clamps" So after keeping the bike for a week and producing useless components, which they determined wouldn't work after they made them, said "We tried but could get what you wanted to work. But we did provide you with parts we made from your template, that'll be $150 please". Needless to say, this was not what we were expecting, especially being handed cut pieces of steel that was pattered off of a "concept" piece! So now we are looking to try another shop that was too busy to handle the first attempt as well as another concept that might work just as well if not better! In summary, those who ordered and are waiting for center stand stops, please be patient, we are working on it. Cheers, D
  3. Well it looks like a majority of the packages are now in the hands of FedEx. I will be sending out PMs with tracking numbers soon. So be on the lookout. One note, FedEx wouldn't let me complete the shipping label without a recipient phone number, so I put my phone number down as the contact number. I assume this is in case they need directions or confirmation of address, if there is a concern for delivery issues. Anyway, once you have the tracking number, I believe you can go online and make delivery changes, like have them to hold the package at a FedEx location or even change the day you want the package delivered. That being the case, you might even have the ability to change the contact number. If so, I would say do that just for good measure. Cheers, D
  4. If I got this correct, looks like SF sent me a text indicating the packages are now in the hands of FedEx! I think we can probably put some in a padded envelope for you. Hopefully SF chime in and let you know if he still has some available.
  5. Send sfdownhill a PM letting him know your interested in a set. For us to even get this off the ground we did require a minimum order and that was reached but now that the builder has the jigs and knowledge of how to build these, large orders may not be a requirement. However that information is SF’s domain so he would be the one to answer the availability and cost questions.
  6. I believe that SF was going to add a post on this thread with some of the tips he got from Wade as well as his past few installs for the fittings and Dyno runs.
  7. WOW! what a day. As you might imagine, SF and I were very busy today dealing with boxing up all these headers. All total we had at 24 headers that were going to be dispersed. There were the "locals", SF, Myself, MooseMoose, MBrane (5 sets there) then boxing up all the rest. Although probably not mentioned by SF in this thread or even via PM, the original passivation company decided to play "corporate" on us and tried to nearly triple the price per header but SF was able to find another place who did it within the budget and they even put them on a pallet and dropped them off at SF's place! Thankfully my previous life as a shipping/receiving clerk came in handy, as I was able to organize the madness that was a pile of headers and get a system down where we confirmed everyone's order and made sure everything was in the box before we packed and sealed it up. Once everyone's order was accounted for, we started adding packing material, wrapping the rear link pipes and then taped the springs and gaskets (if you bought them) to the lid of the box. Please note that the rear link pipes are wrapped in the same packing material that was used and placed in the center of the box on top of the headers themselves. So don't go ripping into this box like it was Christmas (although it will feel like it) and tossing all the packing material away, as you might be tossing out those link pipes! Essentially that was our day and after about 7 hours it looks like we are ready for these boxes to be sent out come Monday morning! Oh yeah, as you can see from MooseMoose's post, he came by and picked up his. Although he offered to help, SF and I hand things under control so we handed him his set and he was on his way. Here's a couple of pics from our point of view during the day. These boxes are 36x16x16in. and weight 16lbs, for those who are curious.
  8. The plan was to have me bring yours back to my place in Anaheim and have you pick them up there. Not sure what I’ll be doing Easter Sunday but the wife wanted to get out of the house for a few. PM me your number and we can talk tomorrow. D
  9. So I got a couple of pics from SF who was down at Wade's picking up another few sets of headers to take to the passivators and he sent some before (of the ones he just picked up) and after pics (of the small batch that were done). They should all be ready by Friday! The before.... ...and the after.
  10. Hey all, we have a standing order with Delkevic for header crush gaskets. If you would like a set for your headers, please let us know by 9AM PST tomorrow morning (Thursday 4/18/19) and tell us how many you wish to buy (They will be $5 for each gasket or $20 a set). However, to be fair, we plan to provide at a minimum one set for those who chime in and what we have left over we will work on fulfilling the "wish list". So if you ask for 3 sets, at a minimum you will get 1 set and if we do not run out by the time everyone gets their minimum 1 set, we will loop back around and get to the ones who asked for more. I hope that makes sense. BTW, Saturday SF and I will be having a "boxing" party, where we get to box everyone's headers and hopefully have them all ready to ship on Monday morning 4/22/19! Cheers, D
  11. No, the bungs will be installed, then passivation will be done.
  12. Wakken, The man to talk to about Rapid Bike is CandeyRedRC46, he seems to be the one most knowledgeable on it's capabilities. The other person to speak to would be Yaman Turan at Rapid Bike, he was very helpful when I spoke with him when I was looking into the RB. He responds to the general email mailbox: info@rapidbike.us
  13. I believe the next run is for 8 Gens but sfdownhill can confirm whether we can squeeze in another 5 or 6 Gen or not.
  14. I just sent out PMs, if you have made your deposit and are expecting a PM regarding this first round of headers and did not get a PM from me, please PM me and let me know and I'll make sure I get yours out to you. Getting closer folks! Cheers, D
  15. Hi all, just wanted to give everyone an update. I finally got a lull in my work schedule and was able to get pricing and work with SFDownhill on all the costing numbers and options you have selected. On that vein, I will be sending out later today, PMs to all of you who have gave your deposit and shipping info with the information we have received. Ideally we have it all correct but that is where you will come in. Once you get the PM. please look over the info and make sure we got it right. As far as the headers go, we spoke with Wade yesterday and this morning, he anticipated being able to deliver the first batch by early next week, we have no reason to doubt that will happen, so we anticipate being able to pick them up and get those that will have passivization done dropped off shortly after we take possession. I'm sure everyone is chomping at the bit as much as we are, all I can say is the last mile is the longest mile! Hard to believe this has come to fruition, let alone almost here! Cheers, D
  16. Hi all, just wanted to let you I am working on getting the totals for passivization, bungs, center stops and shipping together. I've been trying to do this when I had the time after work but after being in Montana all last week and coming back to a full plate of work this week, it's taking me some time to gather all the data and numbers for you all. Please be patient, I'll have the totals shortly, if only this work thing didn't get in the way all the time!Insert other media
  17. Just to give the group an update. We have scheduled the Dyno tune with Yosef at Attack Performance for Saturday January 26th (Yes I know, that's a ways off) They came highly recommended and he was very helpful and seems very knowledgeable. This, plus logistics of it made it our best option. Yosef said will be investigating with Dynojet to determine if making the best of a PCIII or getting a PCV to work would be worth while. If the latter works out, this opens a door for others who have been having trouble getting the PCV to work with a 5 Gen... For the curious, Google Attack performance, WSBK, MotoGP, Josh Herrin...
  18. Thanks, Keith, you were a big part of making this happen! Lance will be updating the list later this evening. I think we are at 18 with yours and 3DCylces request. That was quick!
  19. I have a picture of the code from one of the side panels of my 5 Gen, let me see if I can dig up the picture off of my computer and post it up.
  20. The injectors on my 09 and my 01 are different, so with those two years, the answer would be no.
  21. To add to that, I believe that the later 6 gens (2006+) had the 12 hole injectors. Of course I could have that wrong.
  22. I can tell you from experience, having the injectors professionally cleaned made a HUGE difference in the performance on both my VFRs. Clogged or poorly functioning injectors i.e. dripping, can affect MPG and throttle response. I dropped mine off at a place in Torrance, Ca (RC Fuel Injection) and they were ready in about a day. When they hand them over to you, they provide a before and after sheet showing the condition when received and then after cleaning. Here are the results from my 2009 and 2001 injectors. The 09 were done in June and the 01 were done in July. At the time, the cost was $96 for a set of 4 and this came with new seals and o-rings. It is now $100 for 4 but from what I hear there are cheaper places to have this done, so maybe others who have had this done can chime in. I've taken both my sets and two other friends sets to RC and all have had a similar if not slightly different starting point but all had a much better "after" experience. As far as why it is not in the manual, your guess is as good as mine.
  23. My intention of the post wasn't meant to speak to you directly, I was just sharing it for the info, as it shows some of the things that people have been saying about cheap levers. As I was saying, as long as you know the short comings and are willing to live with them or to correct them, cheap levers are an option, it's just caveat emptor IMO. Which goes for pretty much anything we put on our bikes or any protective gear we put on our bodies.
  24. Well, how apropos, this video showed up in my subscription notification. In all honesty, if you know what the short comings are and are either know what to look for to correct or are OK with the short comings i.e. lose/sloppy tolerances "cheap" levers usually have, then KYO.
