  1. The plastic ones work just fine if you adjust them on the shaft so they fully engage the sprocket bolt head. The problem is usually due to aftermarket sprockets being thinner than stock so the plastic cup doesn't fully engage the bolt head causing it to start slipping. Could also be due to careless installation of the cover causing the plastic cup to move further down the shaft than it should be. If the plastic cup is truly worn a bit of silicone sealant is easy to apply, and easily removable. Even tape will work in a pinch. Been there, done that.
  2. I got mine from Amazon along with the crush washers, and nickel based anti-seize. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LBQL7CG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DHHLP34/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000WXL1Q2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  3. Very interesting! Since I sourced my own gaskets this never occurred to me. I ultimately went with the 41MM gaskets. They may intrude into the flow a bit when crushed, but they are much fatter which means a better seal. I must admit I have been remiss in posting my install experience. Been real busy with other things, but I have to agree that both bikes (48 state, and CA '99s) pull much harder, and have better throttle response. Hoping to get them to the dyno sometime this spring. Thanks again to all who made this happen. Yeah it was a lot of money, but it was F'n worth it!
  4. FYI I finally got around to installing my second header on the bike with the Two Brothers muffler. Had to make a shim for it to fit correctly. The mid pipe is dated 5/98. Gonna do a write-up on both bikes soon with pitfalls, and impressions.
  5. Just thought I'd chime in here too. Drove down to Duc2V4's place on Sunday to pick up my 2 sets. We had a good chat, and I left a case of ale for him & SF. The pipes look great! My GPR, and Scorpion mid pipes will need stretching, but my TBR will slip right on. I probably won't be able to mount 'em up for a few weeks as we have a race coming up, and there's a lot of prep to do on the car as well as the normal packing/RV related stuff. I'll post updates as things progress. Thanks again to you guys for making this happen. I still peek in the box in the garage with a bit of disbelief.
  6. That sure is a beautiful sight. Since mine don't need to be shipped does that mean I can come get 'em this weekend?
  7. Who's idea was it to put ethanol in gasoline anyway? Sta-Bil? That reminds me I need to take Grandma (1994) out for a good ride, and run the generator for an hour or so.
  8. If you've got clogged jets pulling the carbs off/apart is really the only way. Anything I have with carbs that sits gets the fuel shut off, and float bowls run dry before storage.
  9. If it coincides with my picking up headers let me know it's not too much trouble to bring my variety of mufflers down with me for fitment experiments. Old school TBR, Scorpion, and GPR high mount. As long as the pipes line up bracketry/hangers is easy fab.
  10. I ordered a couple sets of the ZX7R gaskets from the jungle, but I have no problem getting in on a group buy since I like to keep things like that in stock. Sucks to get hung up on a build or repair for lack of something so simple.
  11. Just an FYI I have removed, and reinstalled the center stand on a 5th gen without removing the headers. It takes a bit of prying, and cursing but it's doable. Fortunately I have separate work, and play bikes now so don't have to do that again.
  12. 5/8" shouldn't be an issue on the 5th gen. I had to trim about that much to mount my TBR pipe on my '98. Reinstalling the stock pipe, and a Scorpion were no problem. The GPR I have is very similar to the Scorpion. Thanks for the updates!
  13. Am I correct to assume that you will be contacting the deposit list to get bung, and passivation options? *he said bung heheh*
  14. Thanks for the update. Appreciate the attention to detail you guys are performing. I'm not in a big hurry, and really need center stand compatibility for my '99 commuter/touring bike. Great job so far!
  15. Yeah that was an interesting read especially given the fact that we recently broke an apex seal on our rotary race car due to failure of a nearly 30 year old injector that was serviced, and given a clean bill of health. Not going there again. Fresh injectors with every build now. Of course piston engines like the VFR are more tolerant of lean detonation, but it still gives one pause.
  16. Hi MBrane, Thank you for your donation of --. We look forward to improving the forums with your donation. Thanks VFRDiscussion
  17. I have a cut down ZG double bubble on one of my bikes. It works well for me (6’). I have a ZG touring screen on the other. Both have less noise/buffeting than stock. The double bubble was really bad before I cut it down even with the bodywork. I’m a Shoei guy, and they like to be in clean airflow.
  18. Been running standard H4s for years with no issues. You don't trim the lower tabs just bend 'em back slightly so the base fits tight in the mount. If you want the full potential of the lights you'll need to upgrade the wiring. Eastern Beaver sells a good kit for this with options for accessory wiring.
  19. It's normal for the chain to rub the upper buffer when the bike is on the center stand. You should be able to push the lower run up, and touch it to the lower buffer. If not it's too tight, and you'll damage the countershaft bearing.
  20. Ya know since you've put a RC51 front end on your VFR I think its required that you put a VFR swing arm on your RC51.
