    Better safe than sorry, keep the old one around for a back up. I have replaced mine early for the same reason, never put it back on my bike but when a fellow rider needed a tire to get by it's nice to say here, take this one.

    Yes it is, and no Timmy do not just hit it with a hammer, its bent in too far. A bend will create a high spot on both sides of the damage, please take it somewhere to repair it properly and be able to give you total run out measurements after the repair is complete. 20 thousands.
