Russ
Anybody know if there is a good upgrade for the 1986 VFR Interceptor? Limited tire choices for 16" is driving me crazy!

Member Contributer Mohawk Posted June 24, 2021 Member Contributer Share Posted June 24, 2021 86 = 1st gen, then easy, use CBR600F2/3 wheels. I did that to my VF500 many years ago. Everything should just fit, but might require a spacer or two to get wheels central.
Member Contributer Captain 80s Posted June 24, 2021 Member Contributer Share Posted June 24, 2021 F2 front wheel needs about 5mm machined off each side of the rotor mounts to fit the stock forks. Certainly doable, but the machinist better be up to the task to keep them parallel and even. The rear is pretty easy (mostly spacers), but the bike should get a ride height adjustable shock to make up the difference. I have done 4 VFRs now, but I swapped in the whole CBR front end on most of them. Which presents it's own set of hurdles. There is no "bolt on" way unless you want the narrow Hurricane 600 17" wheels. Which I have also done just to keep that one somewhat period correct.
