bluegen1e Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 Hey guys, I have a 4th gen and the front wheel locking screw seems to be missing something. The bolt that goes across the front wheel hub that holds the wheel, should it have some kind of pin, screw or nut on the other side? It has a hole but I don't know if whatever that was there fell off. I attached some pics. thanks. Quote
Member Contributer JZH Posted September 21, 2017 Member Contributer Posted September 21, 2017 Nope. The axle is held in place with the pinch bolt. There's nothing missing. Ciao, Quote
Auspanglish Posted September 21, 2017 Posted September 21, 2017 JZH is correct, nothing missing. It's all extremely rusty though. Quote
bluegen1e Posted September 21, 2017 Author Posted September 21, 2017 thanks @Auspanglish and @JZH. Axle that's the word. 'Assembly' <== haha what a noob I am. just for my understanding the pinch bolt is the screw that's at the bottom of the fork? why is that hole there? The rust was there when I bought it 6 years ago plus I park is outside all year, NYC apt living man. Quote
Member Contributer Terry Posted September 22, 2017 Member Contributer Posted September 22, 2017 AFAIK the hole in the axle is only used/useful for extracting the axle; I poke a screwdriver through and use that to twist and pull the axle out. Pinch bolt is the bolt that pinches the axle mount together on the axle at the bottom of the fork leg. Quote
