Member Contributer vishwo707 Posted April 30, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted April 30, 2017 Hello riders, I am looking for a colour code for red vfr800 2004 in Australia. I have few small scratches and looking in Supercheap auto store has different variants of red. I dont have colour code anywhere on my bike. Help is appreciated. Member Contributer Marooncobra Posted April 30, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted April 30, 2017 Mate colour code is located on a sticker under the seat on the main frame just behind the fuel tank mount. My 2002 is colour code R157 and is really hard to match. Most of the paint I have tried before comes out orange compared to the original red. good luck with matching. Member Contributer Grum Posted April 30, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted April 30, 2017 Pretty sure for 2004 it came out in Winning Red - Code R-258. Memories of my first VFR a Red 2004!. As per Marooncobra, check under your seat. Cheers.

Also if you have your red pillion grab handle covers you could take them to an automotive repair paint specialist, they can analyse the colour and match it, the good thing is it's not metallic. Good luck
Member Contributer RC36Rider Posted April 30, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted April 30, 2017 Just because it says Italian Red does not mean it's Honda's. Also, if memory serves, RS Bikepaint in the UK list R157 as a three-stage paint. Wot ? For a dumb plain red ? That put to rest any intention I had of touching up the many scratches on mine. NB: You probably want white primer to have any hope of a good match as reds tend to be a bit translucent. Your little one is super cute.
Member Contributer sfdownhill Posted April 30, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted April 30, 2017 I just bought a touch-up pen (1/2 oz size for $15.95) in "Honda Italian Red R157" from Color Rite here in the states. I went to the dealer looking to purchase touch up paint, and they pointed me to Colo Rite, saying Color Rite is a major supplier to the majority of Honda Dealers. When I went to check out with the touch-up pen on the Color Rite website, a message popped up "this paint will not work without base coat 1310". If you count a coat of primer, the base coat and color top coat do it indeed add up to a three part paint process. So I got a touch-up pen of the base coat too - just received the paint and base coat last week and have not attempted to use them yet.
Member Contributer MaxSwell Posted May 1, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted May 1, 2017 R157 paint Honda part number: 08704-R157. I do not remember where I bought them, nor have I used them yet, but I have touch up "kit" I assembled. Two bottles of the above, a bottle of primer and a bottle of clear coat. The primer and clear coat is from PaintScratch. http://www.paintscratch.com/
