Rambler358
I'd like to try the Vista Cruise throttle lock, but there presently isn't enough room for it to fit between the heated grip and switch housing. But it does look like the switch housing can be moved inward some, but was wondering if someone has already done or tried this?
inztigator
I might be wrong, but I believe there is a small hole in the handlbar that the housing switch plate connets onto to prevent the switch from moving. Will check the service manual and confirm shortly :)
inztigator
As I suspected. There is a locating pin on the right handlebar switch that aligns with the handlebar. So you won't be able to move it inwards, unless you make a new alignment hole.

Auspanglish
Grind off the pin?
Member Contributer fink Posted September 21, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted September 21, 2016 Why not remove the grip fit lock and then reinstall grip
Member Contributer Duc2V4 Posted September 21, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted September 21, 2016 Rather than grinding off the pin, maybe elongate the hole or drill a new one.
Member Contributer Lorne Posted September 21, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted September 21, 2016 You guys are missing the bleedin' obvious: no, you can't move the switch housing to gain clearance from the throttle grip. The switch housing encloses the throttle tube & cables and they cannot be separated, at least not for any reasonable cost. On the other hand, there are plenty of other throttle locks that work with the existing gear.
Member Contributer Egg on Leggs Posted September 21, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted September 21, 2016 You need to move the grip out along the throttle tube AND remove the raised part on the throttle tube that stops the grip coming into contact with the switch block.
