czargee
So I picked up a Rick's stator (pn 21-120) on ebay and the thing doesn't fit. It's considerably larger that the original one. Anyone have the same problem?

czargee
2002 ? If it is you have to change the rotor also. Yes, it's a 2002. By rotor, are you referring to the no. 3 part on the diagram? 2002 ? If it is you have to change the rotor also. If you have a part no./link to the rotor that will work with the Rick's stator, I'd appreciate it!

Member Contributer Cogswell Posted October 7, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted October 7, 2015 Kaldek has a topic about changing out the 2002 stator and flywheel. It's probably worth doing for the higher output - the reason Honda changed in later years. +1 on Custom Rewind. Before sending it to them, consider what kind of connector you want to use - they'll put about anything you want on it. You can also ask for a bit extra wire in the event you need to cut a connector off and replace it.
Member Contributer Havagan Posted October 7, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted October 7, 2015 How confident are you in the eBay seller? I purchased a Rick's 21-120 for my 2002 and it installed perfectly. Nothing replaced but the stator and the 10-126H-1 R/R.

PACIFICMAN
All advice above, I'm sure, is top notch. For my '02 I went with all Honda factory parts, stator and rotor, it was plug and play and not much more costly. I think I got my local dealer to match Partzilla, which was close to the price on the aftermarket stator. And much less than list for the whole "kit" from Honda (gasket included). Sold that bike, but it worked flawlessly for 18 months...
