VIFFR
I'm wanting to install some aux lights for high beam use only. I live in a rural area and rode at night so I'd like as much light as i can get. I'm after lighting options that are sleek and don't really stand out. I was thinking of getting a 5 light led bar and ticking that under the nose however i don't know if the front mud guard will contact it or not. I'll put a zip tie around the fork leg and measure off that. So those that have additional lights on their bikes, post up a pic! Thanks :)
Member Contributer TomP Posted May 18, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted May 18, 2015 I just put a set of Denali D2 LED lights from Twisted Throttle on my fifth gen. The difference, if you'll pardon the expression, is night and day. http://www.twistedthrottle.com/denali-d2d-dual-intensity-led-lighting-2-light-kit-with-full-wiring-harness-and-m8-mount There's not a lot of places to hang them on a fifth gen. Some people mount them to the forks where the fender is bolted on. I mounted mine on the front cowl (I had spare) -- not unobtrusive, but not obnoxious. I'll try and get a shot of them later today. They are a bit pricey, but the light they throw, especially on high, is absolutely astounding.

duderadidea
I recently installed an LED spot from ADVMonster (http://stores.advmonster.com/). I haven't gotten it aimed quite right yet, and I'm afraid I might have to make a new bracket to get it perfect, but for the money I'm pretty pleased with it. I made my own wiring harness for it, but ended up spending almost as much money as they sell their harness for, so it may be easier to just buy theirs. Member Contributer DFerrell Posted May 21, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted May 21, 2015 I was wondering if some could be hung from under the cowl, about where the horn resides now. I don't think the front fender goes up that high. Sure could have used some for my blast home from ohio last night. 200 miles on shitty roads to get home. Member Contributer Rectaltronics Posted May 21, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted May 21, 2015 I am a little biased since these are sold by a friend of mine but I'm a big fan of these: http://www.teslaleds.com
Member Contributer JZH Posted May 22, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted May 22, 2015 I know they're getting better all the time, but I wouldn't have thought that LEDs could yet compete with HID or even halogen for pencil beam-type long-distance driving lights. I have had different lighting set-ups on my bikes, including PHIDs and 110w PIAA 910s, but as I mostly ride in Europe, there's really no place I would want to ride (at night) where they are necessary, so I've removed them. The 'States and Oz obviously still offer suitable locations, however... Ciao,

superfunkomatic
PIAA sells halogen kits that have a harness, switch for handlebar and hardware to mount on the fender bolts. I have them on my Varadero and they are really bright (blueish light - very noticeable at night) and improve visibility during the day. Here's a picture from the internet of ones that are like mine. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/piaa-1100x-triad-multi-fit-light-kit-with-brackets
Member Contributer deltaboxii Posted May 26, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted May 26, 2015 PIAA and Rigid make some incredible LED running lights. I have the Rigids on two of my 3 VFRs. The SRM spots. I also like that you can snap an amber cover on them quickly for better visibility in fog. I installed mine down by my fender where the stock reflectors would go.
