VFRobert
Just replaced the air filter on my 07 and it wasn't as ugly as I thought it might be bad bad enough.
Member Contributer Switchblade Posted September 20, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted September 20, 2014 You can tell you have done no airbox mods.
LEGEND
I've found the vfr's are pretty easy to keep and won't fall apart if you aren't perfect on your maintenance.
spud786
to really see how dirty, look through it in to the light compared to a new one, yours is obviously dirty but I normally don't go more than 17 or 18,000 miles. Normally my replacements cleaner than yours are about 40 to 50 percent blocked. But I normally don't notice any performance difference on replacement. Member Contributer Mohawk Posted September 21, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted September 21, 2014 If you have access to an air line, its worth blowing the filter out in a reverse direction every year & replace it every other year. I use a K&N & clean it every winter.
VFRobert
I replaced mine with a K&N. Held the old one up to the light and couldn't see any coming through so it was pretty bad. I also did the air box mods while I was in there. I've read different opinions on the difference the mods make but IMO the difference was definitely worth it and noticeable. Really seemed to smooth out the throttle control in 1st gear and love the sound too.
