VietHorse
Ok. I stayed up late last night looking at this thread. Thought about the pictures all day at work. Thanks for sharing Trung. Lots of work writing this up. Awesome scenery and nice peoples. Such kind hospitality! What camera are you using? So I'm coming to Alabama on the 22nd and going to be in Auburn and Lynette Georgia for a couple of weeks. Now I am motivated to visit Barber motorsports Museum at some point during my trip. Unfortunately my VFR would exceed my allocated 50lbs so I won't be riding. Anyone interested in meeting there? Would also like to ride Vietnam someday...that would be fun too. Thanks for your nice words and so sorry for keeping you staying up so late. Welcome to Vietnam and ride here, even though it's not really enjoyable. I was using Sony A37 with lens kit 18:55. VietHorse
Day 7 with VFR Woke up after a very good night at Clayton. Thanks to the hot water bath tub and the very good heater in the room. The hotel breakfast was ok as well. It was raining since midnight: And the morning was so chilly, ~53deg: It was a bit raining when I prepared for departure. The rain suit and the place for camera were ready to go. Here is the tracklog for the day 7: It kept changing from rain to heavy foggy and so all the way from the hotel up to some next hours.... The speed was so low. I was also very concentrate to the road as I know it was my last riding day, and I did not want to make a single mistake, even a very small one. This 's where I stopped to take out the rain suit and stored my camera. Kept riding for a while, then stopped for fuel, the sky looked brighter: And it soon became like this: It was the same as the day I was going to Blue Ridge Parkway with Wrestler and RollingAgain, but this seemed heavier foggy: ... VietHorse
Weather was not so good for riding, but I did not want to cut short my route. I still stick to the plan that hanging around with the road 60 and US76. I made another stop on the way, at a very nice corner: I passed the corner and come back to take photos. A very impressive turn. Leaves almost gone: I forgot why I came down here... I passed Blood Mountain again, alone. Rain kept dropping, the road was very wet. It was not fun at all on Blood Mountain that day. It's better and better when coming nearer to RollingAgain's place. Arrived RollingAgain's work place around noon time and it was hot there: Here's how the VFR come back to its owner: RollingAgain took his car and come back with me to his house. Wrestler was already there to wait for me. A happy reunion: Met RollingAgain and Wrestler, I have nothing much to say more than my thankful to them. It was amazing time in my life, and it was really created by them. Riding tracklog of my 7th day with VFR: And here is the summary of my riding trip to Great Smoky Mountain: Wrestler and I back to Atlanta. RollingAgain back to his work. We met a gain in a farewell dinner, and Mike_On_Bike came to join us again - It's really great to see him so happy : Someone got drunk so getting this photo out of focus : Slept very well for the last night in Georgia. Woke up very early and bother Uncle Wrestler again to drive me to the airport. We was talking about coming back for another ride... and many others... He took a photo of me before heading back to his house. On the plane, I was recalling all of my memory about the trip. It looked like a movie, with lots of beautiful scenes, moments and all the awesome friends. Talked to myself that I have to come back again. Arrived Houston when the sun was raising: I got another rental car for another day, drove to my friend's house: Took a photo with him before we all going for another farewell dinner in a Mongolian restaurant: Drove to the Airport in the next morning, transited in Chicago and then Narita (Tokyo) again. I arrived my home sweet home with lots of great memories about TWT guys, about VFRD buddies; all the great and awesome guys who really make my trip. I don't really know how to say, just thank you All, my Friends. Wish you All happy and ride safe, always!

Member Contributer wrestler Posted December 6, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted December 6, 2012 What a great privilege and opportunity you provided for us, Trung. Sy and I dropped our bikes but that sadness was minor compared to the great time we had hosting you. I am sure the guys in Texas are valuing your friendship as much as we are. Good luck and best wishes Until we meet again

Member Contributer wrestler Posted December 11, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted December 11, 2012 Glad you cleared that up for us who are prone to getting lost in that area, Switchblade. Whatever it is, it is a sweet pic. I got to have a camera like his. Then if I could buy his talent for a shot somewhere, I would be set.

Member Contributer kebrider Posted December 11, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted December 11, 2012 I was there this Sunday. The Dragon was nearly empty and we had a fantastic time. The VFR did pretty well hangin with a couple of liter bikes as usual and the weather has been excellent for late season riding. KEB

We had steady rain for a week and it took its toll on a few mountain roads in the area. I probably weakened that area last year with all the passes I took on the VFR ;)

Guest
Nice write up VietHorse! Very nice pictures! I'm glad you liked the U.S. :) My fiance' traveled to Vietnam the past two years as a volunteer to help build houses, she brought back some amazing coffee where you put the coffee pot on top of the glass and add sweetened condensed milk. I love it! Hopefully this year I'll get to go with her and see your beautiful country :)

Can't wait to be there and ride again... If you are around Hochiminh City this year, why don't we have some beers. :), yeah, and of course original Vietnamese coffee, which knocked some VFRD guys down that day... haha... Guest
Sounds great! I'm not sure exactly where she goes- but I'm always excited about an adventure, so if I do get to go with her I'll make my way to Hochiminh City! I've wanted to see Vietnam ever since they did a special "Top Gear" there :) She's far more well traveled than I am, I've been up and down the east coast and to Cananda (Absolutely love Canada) though I haven't gone back since they changed the border requirement. Not sure who "they" is but now you need a passport. Shame too b/c a group of friends and I went almost every weekend for the casino- they gambled, I played the buffet. I won every time ;) Back to my point, lol I love the idea of traveling and adventure and I dream of someday traveling the world :) I am very excited and hopeful for the future :) Also loved when Anthony Bourdain went to Vietnam for his show "No Reservations" he said "“I have never been made to feel more welcome than I have in Vietnam, or been treated more graciously, or with as much kindness.". It's funny he said that because that is exactly what my fiance' said about vietnam :)
VietHorse
Just a day to flight from US to Vietnam, mikethaninefive. Come on over! One of my friend, who was riding a R1200GS in my trip report (here) will be riding across the US this May. Don't know if he can hook up with you guys. I don't know, that's his planed route purposely for his architectural research. May I tell him that just got to the Dragon and he can meet Switchable!?
