VFR MODEL TRANSLATION

As the man (was it Churchill?) sometimes the usa/europe language is lost in "translation"

I know you guys work in "gen" rather than our boring model numbers

have I got this right?

UK USA

VFR750 FG FH 86-87- first of the gear driven cams IST GEN

VFR750 FJ-FK 88-89 17 in front wheel- ive got one! 2ND GEN

VFR750 FL-FP 89-93 single sided swingarm 3RD GEN

VFR750 FR-FV 94-97 trapezoid headlights 4TH GEN

VFR800 FW ON 98-01 catalysts/lamda sensors fitted 2000 on 5TH GEN

VFR800 Vtec 02 on underseat mufflers 6TH GEN

VFR1200 motad not here yet! 7TH GEN

That one should be described as the NACA duct bike. Oh, nevermind. He doesn't hang around here anymore. :tour:

I am "bilingual" in VFR-speak...

I would agree with your chart, except that the 3rd-gen (FL-FP) was not a 1989 model (although it was available for sale in late 1989, "L" is the model year indicator for 1990), so you should say "90-93".

Also, I've never heard of the 4th-gen being referred to by its headlights, but I see your point!

The -there can be only one- 4th Gen is indeed identifyable by its NACA :tour:

I thought I saw a generation picture chart once that showed the evolution of the Interceptor. Sort of like the "Ape to Man" chart they used to have in school. Does anyone know if that even exist? or did I dream that I saw that?
