Your spray gun needs to be adjusted in a bad way.

I've never painted a bike before, but hopefully the second coat will rectify things somewhat?

As long as there are no runs in the first coat, subsequent non-heavy coats should only make things better I would guess.

Are you trying you spray gun set up on a piece of card board or scrap before you spray the bike?

If you are, pull the trigger and count to 2, then let go. You should not see any runs and the paint should be evenly distributed in a "cigar" shape. Play with your controls on the gun to get as close to this as possible. You can even do this with just plain water to learn how the controls affect the spray pattern before you spray paint (make sure to clean the gun after to remove all the H2O when done). The settings will change once you use paint but you will know how the controls work.

Keep going, painting takes practice

  • 6 months later...

Well everyone it is official I AM DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! As of today I finished my bike after a very long 9 months. To make a long storey short I have been working in mexico for two months, also having to repaint the bike twice, having to order 3 different decal kits, and using alot of sandpaper adds to the 9 months of painting. well enough talk and see for yourself.

Nice job. And despite delays you kept at it. Bet it feels good to get it back on the road.

I just got back from my first ride on the bike, and it was amazing, one of the most satisfying rides I have ever done.
