Earthshake
I'm usually the sort to do preventive maintenance, but with fork seals I've been known to adopt the mantra "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." But I want opinions of the collective VFR brain. I've got 33K and I'm ready to put in the gold valves and springs I picked up on the group buy. Seals have never given me a problem, but since I'm going in, what say you...replace or not?
soichiro
On a 98, if I were going it the forks I would replace the seals. They are almost ten years old. Better to do the job once.

I'll agree with Doug on this one. It can't hurt, although your mantra is a good one to live by.
shrek
rule of thumb every time you open up the forks, replace the seals. Why risk the problems for $20?
Member Contributer JZH Posted October 7, 2007 Member Contributer Share Posted October 7, 2007 Well, as long as you've got the forks apart, you should also replace the bushings--more cheap insurance, IMHO. Ciao,
