Thanks for the heads up. Wonder why it's so cheap. Radarbuster.com gave it top marks. hmm weird.

I wish they would make a motorcycle radar detector that is weatherized, like gps units are! My friend Scott was riding with his Escort, it started to spit rain and so he put it into the pocket of his stich, then failed to get the zipper all the way up!

It fell out of his pocket at 70mph - I was behind him and all I saw was it breaking into smaller pieces then dissapearing into the brush on the side of the road. I mean if they can make a premium unit they can make it water resistant for the motorcycleing market!

I mean its only a matter of time before some entreprenual executive makes a weatherized, gps - radardetector - communicator - mp3 player with easy off power cords and backup battery, perhaps bluetooth for a helmet headset too! Its just a matter of how many chips they put on the thing!

And a matter of who could afford to buy one... not me sad.gif

I do want that RX 65, my last speeding ticket was over $600!!! Gotta wait for my income tax return, then I pay my property tax, and play with the rest!! smile.gif

I'm very happy with my Whistler Cruisader. It is motorcycle-specific and weatherized. Comprised of three modules: 1. Display unit that clamps on the handlebar. Mine is mounted on the left Convertibar between the grip and the clutch reservoir; 2. Main antenna that is a small rectangular box that I mounted under the headlights. No problem clearing the fender. Hardly noticable in that position; and, 3. A small rear lazer antenna that I mounted on top of the tag light.

The display automatically brightens up when it detects a signal. I also have the optional wireless LED that I mounted inside my helmet at eye level on the far right (at the edge of my peripheral vision). Blinks when signal detected.

Sorry, no pictures at the moment. I'll try to post some later. Installation was straightforward except that the cable from the rear antenna to the display unit was too short. Whistler Technical Support kindly sent me an extension cable at no cost.

People who are "into" radar say that Whistler is not a sensitive as Escort or Valentine. Probably true. On the other hand, my buddy with the Escort on his GSX-R complains that it is always going off. Too sensitive. I think I'm getting sufficient warning to slow down. No tickets so far...

Got mine from this place: http://www.opticsale.com/whistler-cruisade...r-detector.html Good price. Free shipping. Excellent customer service. When I got mine, they had a bundle that included the wireless LED module for around $275. Not on their web site at the moment; suggest you call them and ask.

I don't think that's a huge deal. You want the detector to be easily removeable, so you can take it off the bike when parked, or use it in your car. Mounted to the dash behind the windscreen, mine stays dry in a light rain (my new bike's windscreen doesn't have a rain/bug port a the bottom, which also helps). I normally don't use it in the wet, since I'm riding slower, and the cops don't seem to like to stand in the rain writing tickets.

I guess my point is that I'd take the most functional unit over one that is weatherized. I have me car and bike hard-wired for my V1.

It's worked well so far. It triggers at the same spots that it did on my truck's windshield and it has most likely saved me two "for sure" tickets since I mounted it in September.
