Steering handles

Recommended Posts

Hi! Greetings from Croatia 😉  I recently bought yellow one 1999., original paint, it has aftermarket one-peace steering handles installed, but as this is my second 5th gen, I use to drive with original ones which I don't have. Does anyone knows if original handle bars fits from any other Honda models?

I mean, not that they just fits, they shoud be identical.

Thank you in advance.

The bars are unique to the VFR800 98-01 years based on the part number cross-reference. You definitely can't use any off the 2002 onwards as they have larger diameter (43mm) forks. An earlier year (88-97) VFR will fit but the locating peg (into the triple clamp) will probably need to be removed and the locating holes for the switch pods may be differently located.

Late Honda CBR600F3's circa 1995-1998 share same 41mm fork diameter, as do VFR750's they will fit a 5th Gen 800's forks, bar rise may be a bit lower than a stock 5th Gen bars, CBR bars are plentiful on eBay, location pin on bar clamp may not be in the same orientation as 5th Gen bars, it'll allow more range of adjustment if removed, race bikes mostly don't use a locating pin & they have far more stress put thru the bars than any road bike.

Have u searched eBay for 5th Gen bars?

Sure I've a few sets on sale recently, used bars are a risk IMHO as they've likely come from a crashed bike.

91 - 98 CBR bars are low and forward of the fork tube.

90 - 97 VFR bars are in line with the tube.

Those are 94 - 97.  90 - 93 have the pinch bolts on the bottom, not inboard.  The rise and pull back is identical tho.

90 - 93 style

89 - 90 CB-1 bars are forward of the the tube, but have a higher rise than CBR

Stock Hawk GT bars are in line with the tube and quite tall.

My CB-1 has strange bars from an older GSXR on it, 1991-1992 GSXR750, I think. They're...fine, but I'd love another cheap option.
