Member Contributer weee06 Posted January 13, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted January 13, 2018 So I am going to install the exhaust soon. Is it necessary to use the silicon in the joints? Seems like it would get all scrapped off when you install the pipe since they are a close fit. Also that makes it a problem with taking out or installing the baffle later, not to mention it needs to be removed when removing the rear tire. Member Contributer fink Posted January 13, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted January 13, 2018 Have never ever used silicone. Normally use a blob of grease smeared round.
Killerkingdon
If you buy the Delk - it comes with RTV or gasket sealant. Here is the my link to the unboxing - https://youtu.be/wjeuTeLbEhc

But no point in using the RTV on both joints, you will be removing the pipe from the cat junction to remove your wheel. Cheers.
Member Contributer VFROZ Posted February 7, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted February 7, 2018 The RVT sealer supplied by Delkevic doesn’t stick like normal silicone. If you don’t use it on the downpipes, it will leak. I’ve redone mine because of my bad method. You don’t use a lot, and you place it on the intside of the outer tube, it will spread as you fit the inner tube.
Member Contributer weee06 Posted February 10, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted February 10, 2018 I ended up using some on the female parts just past the slots. I let it set over night. I didn’t hear any leaks.
Member Contributer VFROZ Posted February 11, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted February 11, 2018 By the way, I never use it on the muffler, I use hot temp anti sieze instead. Makes it easy to remove it later.
