  1. An inch/24mm is alot, Most I have heard is to raise the forks up 10mm .... Or about 49mm from the top tripple to the top fork tube.
  2. The spokes on the 90-93 wheels are roughcast, whereas on the VFR800 they're smooth. Rims are polished on both bikes. As can see here, on some silver 90-94 wheels, they do not have a nice finished under the powdercoat from Honda. I am having them re powder coated red anyways. I just wanted to see what was underneath. So if you have the silver wheels, not worth trying to strip unless you want to save some $$ at the powder coaters. And yes my manual states that you are to REPLACE not reuse the rotor bolts, at least in my gen 4 manual. I ordered some new ones, no reason to skimp here!
  3. Thanks for that! How much would you say you have from the top of the tire to the mufflers? I think I may just have to run without my hugger for mine to work. I only have about 3-3 1/2 inches from top of tire to muffler right now. If I flip the eccentric I pick up an inch but run into other issues -( chain riding on top guide rails & slight hitting of center stand if too loose ). Maybe Ill get this figured out yet..... Is 5 inches the magic number I am after from top of wheel you think?
  4. Can you tell me how many inches you have between your hugger and the pipes when its on the side stand? Any rubbing issues? Ever ride 2 up? Thanks, trying to set up my undertail.
  5. Just a question on your install as I am looking to do this on my 4 gen. Have you had any hits to the muffler/tire with 2 up riding (or alone). I also have a CF hugger on mine so Im worried about that and thinking of using a tail riser for more clearance. Also curious if nay related heat problems with the undertray / seat or rear lenes. Thanks Brian
  6. If it is your first time its probably be easier for you to remove the wheel and do one fork at a time .... Be careful not to pull, twist, yank or pound to hard while its on the jack I beg to disagree. If it's his first time he is more prone to error. Leaving the wheel on means everything will stay in alinement better. Don't be afraid people. The headers will support your bike fine. But like Dutchy says, doing it with an almost empty tank is common sense. It weighs much less that way. You can use the car jack to slowly drop the whole assembly in a perfectly parallel manner and once you've dropped the front by the desired distance, you will most likely find that the distance is the same on both sides, unless you've got the bike on uneven ground or haven't placed the jack centrally. Although the scissor jack that Duthy uses can be a bugger to adjust, there are smoother operating jacks around for like 15 bucks. I use one under the headers to do the fork oil change or change the front tyre... works a treat!! I'll be doing this mod over the next couple of days as I've got this odd instability in straight line trajectories... and I'm starting to suspect that the rear shockie I swapped out on my 5th gen is a 6th gen model and apparently a few mm shorter... I will document the procedure. Are you keeping the front wheel on while you do this mod?? Please post up on your results....

  8. Looks good! What is wrong with just bolting on some 2000 mirrors?
  9. Maybe but I might stop talking to you .... ok I cant. I mean if it wasnt for your help I would have my bike finished yet !
  10. Where are you getting your fork from? New OEM? I only ask because I made a slight drilling mistake while removing the cartridge in one of mine ..... Went too far to the side and got into a bit of the flat sealing suface ... JB weld to the rescue ....
