  1. 35K kms max and then the chain and sprockets were toast. Riding on dirt roads and salt during the winter months doesn't do the chain any good. But Like others mentioned it is not just about chain life, it is about not having to clean the chain every week (or multiple times a week this time of year). Good chain maintenence will always improve chain life wheterh usig lube or oil. Lube doesn't stay on a chain when riding through a rainstorm for an hour with the oiler you just push a button/pull a lever for some extra chain maintenence while you ride. But most auto oiler topics end in oiler versus lube debate and by looking at the topic title the OP asked to keep that out of this thread. No not mine and I do not have any contact info on the guy who made it. I do have another pic though All I know is it has a little hole in the bottom through which the oil is able to escape and it did reduce the amount of fling off getting on the bike. I was thinking of making something similar as the hugger/chainguard I have on my VFR right now is shorter than stock and doesn't cover the rear sprocket at all.
  2. When I had the chain on it for 20k kms Keny thought it was a bit to tight and we added some more slack to it. Now the chain is at 55k kms (34K mls) and it never needed adjustment or cleaning, stretch is less than 0.5%. I did replace the front sprocket 7K kms ago.
  3. That maybe true for the first few weeks finding the right setup. After a year or two it has paid for itself, saved you a lot of time not having to do chain maniteance and no more worrying if your chain will last till the end of your journey.
  4. I know and I notice some fling off getting on the sidewall of the tire too, but never on the tire profile. Maybe something like this will solve that.
  5. Yes, on a friends VTEC, but that was because the oil feed line had seperated from the nozzle. After that was fixed and the PO set to run a little leaner there was no fling off getting on the tire profile. There is some on the sidewall, on mine too. Table 21 is very lean, are you sure you have no EMI? I think there is pulse count mode so you can compare the number of pulses against distance travelled. If your setup still suffers from EMI maybe you could replace the pick-up with some caoxial cable.
  6. Surely one of the best streetfightered VFRs I've seen, well done :fing02: Yes, why are you going to take it apart?

    camera mount

From the album: bits 'n pieces

I took the swivel mount of a camera monopod and screwed it onto a RAM camera baseplate. This was a straight swap, I only needed to put a large washer between the baseplate and the swivel head so it could rotate freely and I used a much shorter substitute for the 10" long swivel arm that comes standard with the mono/tripods.

RAM arm is just a tad too short. With the lens at it's widest angle teh top of teh screen is obsuring the bottom 1/3rd of the pictures.

Not sure if the ram mount can suport the weight of the camera when riding over bumpy roads with the RAM arm in this postion.

  18. Hyperpro has about the same pricelevel as WP and from what I read here, are better known and sell better. Still WP has produced a lot more World Champions than Hyperpro, in fact I can't name a single rider that won a WCship on Hyperpros. I think it has more to do with image (e.g. through advertising) than reputation. If reputation by winning championships really plays that big a role than not only WP but also Showa should be right up there with Öhlins.
  19. @ Rock dude: This is what I got when I opened the file: No excel file but it was a bit of a "shock" j/k Yes, no problem downloading the file you posted. Slammer allready has this covered => Wiki
  20. Maybe this can be made into a VFRD wikipage so anyone can add measurements of other shocks to the list.
  21. :goofy: Maybe the submission first has to be approved by Slammer before anyone else besides mods and uploader can view the file.
