  1. Nice shot and Great title! :fing02:
  2. I have not ridden a 4th gen,but if your thinking of touring I would stay with stock gearing and be happy like you already are with it. Otherwise I would tend to add teeth to the rear myself for quicker acceleration as I live in the twisties, but that's not touring ideal IMO! BR
  3. Shouldn't there be a green wire on both sides? Thanks, Steve Yes, if your bike has the original Main & Front Sub harness than it WILL have green wires on both sides as that is the Original ground point. NO, if you've had the Harness Recall done as Honda has found another way to ground the front harness and the Front Sub Recall harness no longer has the Green ground wire running thru/to the blue connector. BR PS I did this fix years ago and still haven't had it done by a Dealer yet.
  4. Actually if I'm not mistaken the XX Blackbird has the stiffest spring of this type shock that Honda uses at 16.9kg. I had read that the XX Blackbird has the stiffest spring of this type shock. Do you know if that spring will fit the VFR shock? I was trying to find spring dimensions for the VFR shock. I can rough measure mine in the bike, but I don't have a feel for how critical that number is. I also don't know free height of the vfr spring either. Yes, it fits as I installed an XX spring on my 00 VFR shock. I should have just installed the XX shock instead!

  6. John, number one I would NOT install 1.0 kg fork springs and not change the rear spring also or IMO the bike will be worse off. The rear is already too soft and installing 1.0's in the front will shift a LOT more weight to teh already too soft rear end. Outside that, looking at just the forks: installing 1.0 springs will slow compression & speed up rebound, so IMO you would want lower weight oil on the comp. stroke and higher on the rebound side to slow down the bounce back of teh 1.0's. On SAG IMO the only real way to know if the springs are right is to have correct FREE & Rider sag, not one or teh other. BR
  7. Just purged this 2 year old thread for easier viewing as it is one of our favorite paint projects. Welcome back! BR
  8. Need pics NOW! On the Up gasket, stock uses one, but many aftermarket cans don't. Have you checked fitment yet? BR

I'm with you on this one, his bike his body. A friend of mine is a stunter and has crazy skillz, funny tho... he doesnt care much for the corners but has no problem doing a 100+mph wheelie.  And before someone jumps on that comment...it was at the race track and he was part of the entertainment. I'm with you guys, go for it bro! :fing02: The Smooth 5th gen power would show itself well in Stunt'N.
  10. I believe it is around $250-$300 for a full customized mapping on a dyno. The mapping was basically free for me since I won a raffle drawing to be redeemed at Las Vegas DynoTech and I used it for the custom mapping since I needed it. Buy a PCV instead of the PCIII and add Auto-Tune for less than $250 and you'll never need a custom maps no matter how many mods you make!
  11. Welcome to VFRD! :cheerleader: Just Google search and it will most likely come up with VFRD mod jobs! :fing02: BR
  12. That's a real beauty of a bike you got there. :fing02:
  13. Is that building still the Opera House or a Casino??? Seems like about anything with 4 walls became a Casino when they legalized gambling up there.
  14. Thanks Larry, I always enjoy learning something new! :fing02: Good stuff! BR
  15. Mercy Bailey... do you know what the viscosity of Mobil 1 15 50 is at 104ºF start up and 212ºF operating temps??? No Larry, I don't! :491:
  16. Dittoes on the Rotella T and Wally World filter, BR. Good stuff for reasonable money! :fing02: Actually I switched back to Mobil 1 15w-50 in the track bike and VFR, the Benz is still on the Rotella T 5w-40.

    Key Mod

That's pretty cool! :fing02: I actually did a mod to my track bike key where I cut off the top of the key and soldered it back on at 90 deg's so it sat parallel to the ground just a air above the ign. switch. This way in a crash it didn't get bent or broke off.
  18. Time to take the spuds back out then! :goofy: Not yet! Don't you have some bikes to part out too? Done!
  19. I'm callin BS on that BR :laughing6-hehe: :laughing6-hehe: :laughing6-hehe: Unless that motor has over 100k on it  It's HS's 5th gen motor w/120k + miles, but I think he already checked them at some point!
  20. I did just do the following to my 02 within the last few months so I don't have any big list right now. - Starter Valve sync - T-stat - antifreeze - K&N clean - plugs (IR) - fork seals - fork oil I was thinking of checking the valves, but it would be on this engine! I did install some exhaust spuds to quite down my beast, but now I think I hear the tick, tick of another CTT! Of course I got 50k from the second set so far.
