  1. It's only about sound, nothing else. If you want a silent intake sound, then leave them as they are, if you want a growling sound then remove them.
  2. They are there to reduce the intake noise, nothing else, just like the flap in the exhaust. The EU has set noise levels that they have to comply, as such Honda puts those bottles there. If you remove them the bike sounds a whole lot better. Is your ECU installed again?
  3. Replace the battery first, a dead battery won't come to life. Not even with a jumpstart.
  4. Mine 5th Gen (2000) has also 80kkm on the clock. Other then the regular replacements like: brakes, oil, oil-filter, air-filter, chain and sprockets etc nothing special ever happened. One thing did break and that was the dampening-rubbers that connect the wheel with the rear sprocket, those gone bad, making weird noises when go on/off the gas. Sounds like a rear-spring that went bust, but it's those rubbers. Never did anything else to it and spins like a satisfied kitten on your lap
  5. Do, you won't regret it. I love my Don flashed ECU....it's way beyond expectations. Have you tried to do 10000rpm in 2nd? Mine does
  6. He can have the Belgian full-power version, as there are 2 versions. Has to do with taxes during registration. However, instead of opening only 2/3th his may open 100%, but the 8000rpm in 1/2 is still there, as well as the poor throttle-response. And on top a very poor fuel-mapping that makes the bike run terrible. Don has removed all this, as such the bike should run a lot better, the 115HP restricted should have an enormous gain and handling. The unrestricted Belgian bike should gain a lot of handling, and a lot of gain in 1/2 gears as well in 5/6th. In total due to the new fuel-map, it should gain overall. However, I'm speculating at the moment as my ECU hasn't come back from Don yet, should be here tomorrow. After that I can tell for sure how much Don did or didn't do. My expectations are set very high. As are those of my dealer who is following this all too.
  7. But it's very expensive for just 3 wires to do the same.
  8. All I can say, and Don Guhl confirmed this, the Belgian version of the bike sucks. It has a major throttle delay, what a z-bomb can't fix. It doesn't open more then 2/3th of the throttle at all, because of the 115HP restriction, z-bomb can't fix this either. It doesn't allow you to remove the exhaust-servo, z-bomb doesn't fix this either. It won't allow you to go over 250KM/H, z-bomb can't fix this. It has a limit of 8000rpm in 1st and 2nd, that a z-bomb can fix....but for Belgium it's useless because the throttle won't open further then 2/3th anyway in ALL gears! Don't know about other versions, but on a Belgian restricted bike it's a waste of money, people are better of with a VFR800 instead, as it's faster and has the same top speed, also uses a lot less petrol. A few months back a Belgian magazine (Motor & Toerisme) tested both bikes together and their conclusion was that the VFR1200 was not worth it's "promised" reputation as the 800 could keep up easily and even pass it. I'm sorry, but those limitations can not be fixed with a z-bomb as they are baked in the ECU, either replace the ECU or get it flashed by Don. I do speak about the Belgian version only, as e.g. the Dutch version doesn't have these absurd restrictions and the z-bomb could make a big difference. I did talk to my dealer about this, and he also told me the Belgian restricted version sucks and only a changed ECU will bring the bike to life. My dealer is awaiting my Don-flash-ECU to see if it's even better then a full-power-BE(HISS)-ECU....judging on what Don promised, it will probably be a lot better. As my ECU is flying at the moment over the ocean towards me, I expect to be able to tell how much the Don-flash did.....and Don IS cheap for the work he does compared to a z-bomb.
  9. He is on holiday, it states on his website. Also, use a gmail account to mail him, as it happened to me his messages where dropped by a stupid spam-filter. Stop bashing Don for no good reason. My ECU arrived at his shop today, but as he's on holiday I do expect his call till after the 22nd.
  10. The VFR800Fi of 2000 is a lot faster, also the CBR1000RR is a lot faster. It ranks crap, sorry it does. The EU shit they put on it is incredible, exhausts sucks, valve pairing sucks, ECU sucks. What needs to be done to make it rank better: 1: Let Don Guhl flash the ECU 2: Remove the exhaust flap by removing the steel wire from the flap-motor 3: Kill Valve pairing Best bike for me at the moment, VFR800Fi 2000, it has all the EU crap removed and is freaking fast. I have send my ECU to Don, and after I hope the VFR1200 will surpass the 800 after that. So far not many bikes are better then the 5th gen VFR800.
  11. Tanks a lot!
  12. Don't do it, Don Guhl is the only one that can do it, the rest is rubbish and fake. And sending your ECU to the USA takes only 2 to 3 days with Express Packaging, well from Belgium. For your information, a flasher in The Netherlands has killed 2 ECU's....so much for domestic flashing. Mine is going to Don tomorrow, I hove to have it back next week.
  13. I run RON95 as you can't lower in Europe, never used anything else. It's called "EuroSuper" or "EuroPremium" or "Regular unleaded", the most common fuel we have. You can compare it to 90-91 in the USA.
  14. I have the 2000 version with 75000km on the clock, issues: NONE. But I do have a new chain-set around to do at the next maint schedule, just to be sure.
