  1. How do you define "longer trips?" I thought about doing the same thing as you're trying, but most of my riding was 150 mile one day rides. I couldn't justify keeping it on. I installed the VFRD Header and I was going for less weight and looks. I think the center stand looks ugly dangling off a sport bike. 😉
  2. These bikes don't need a center stand, just get some PIT Bull stands when doing maintenance. I removed my center stand on my 8G and sold it. Unless you're doing tons of touring, there is no need for a center stand. IMHO
  3. I like the carbon 😉
  4. WOW! Lucky you were able to snag one of the WyLD headers. Must be the last one available! I love mine on my 8G! Are you going to get it ceramic coated?
  5. Interesting, I moved away from Progressive this year and to state farm because it was much cheaper. 57 years old, no tickets. (2015 VFR800FD)
  6. I had a muffler shop do mine and he split it, I found a good welder and he fixed it up perfect!
  7. Touring bikes need a center stand. 😉
  8. This bike does NOT need a center stand.
  9. Yes, there was one created for the 8G. The DynoJet Power Commander PCV. You should still be able to get the tune for a small upcharge.
  10. I do have the map from Attack.. FYI...
  11. I just posted in both VFR 800 Owners and VFRWORLD FB groups a little advertisement mentioning that we need just a few more orders to move forward with the custom group buy. Sorry guys, I may have to bow out of this buy. I was going to buy an extra, just in case, but I plan on having my 8G for 27 years, just like I had my 3G that I bought new. 😉 Besides, I'm trying to build a house and my 18 year old truck may not be worth fixing anymore?. UGH! Putting a grand on the shelf probably wouldn't be prudent at this juncture. 😉
  12. So I was thrilled by the power my 8G has now after the header install, How about you? Was the power increase acceptable/delectable to you? 😉 Curious if I'm just being biased because I spent the money? I didn't get any before/after dino runs, but the seat of the pants dino showed a noticeable improvement in passing power,
  13. I was on the list.... but I already have one installed in my 8G. I was thinking of buying another one? But honestly, after further review, if something were to happen to my beloved 8G, I probably would be done with VFR's? I can only stand to buy new motorcycles, nothing used. If something happened to my VFR? I'd have to consider a Gold Wing? or if I stay with a sport bike, maybe one of those BMW XR1000's? I can't believe there isn't a lot of people lining up to get their hands on a custom header for a VFR? Pricey? Yes, but it makes the VFR sooo much better... How far are we away from the minimum?
  14. I owned a 3G, from new, 27 years. I upgraded to an 8G and added the VFRD headers. I loved my 3G, but it is no where near as capable as the 8G.
  15. When I used an air assist power bleeder, I had a friend handle the fluid input. Definitely helped!
  16. I had a muffler shop try to expand my connector pipe and they split it. I ended up having a welder guy remove the center stand stop bump, and at the same time, fix the crack in my connector pipe the muffler shop guy created when trying to expand the diameter. The expansion of the pipe has to be done by someone skilled and someone not in a rush. 😉 See video below for my end result, you can see my welder guys handy work. I was super pleased! Nice to hear you found a competent muffler shop guy 😉
  17. I paid $830, and the option for passivation is $90. 7.75% CA tax, not including shipping. (8G)
  18. You need a Carbon SC Project Slip on, looks AWESOME! It really is a perfect motorcycle. I get so disgusted with people saying it needs more power? Get the VFRD Header and it's perfect balance of power and midsized sport tourer.
  19. Have you ever ridden an 8G? It is night and day different from the older Gens. I owned a 3G, bought it new.. rode it for 27 years. I bought the 8G because I got it new for $5999. I couldn't ride the 3G anymore, it was a nice bike, but it was like riding a dinosaur vs the 8G... but I did live that gear driven cam sound.
