dozyproductions
I need to get my pivot bolt undone so I can send my 'steps', 'footguards' (or whatever have you) to the powdercoater. After searching here and the googles, it doesn't seem like there's any definitive answer on how to get it out. If this done via a special tool I don't have access to it, it's part # or really to want to buy a $10-20 item for a one time use. Does anyone know the socket size for this thing? I saw some where that some one floated around the number 25mm. Makes sense since my 23mm didn't exactly fit and 25mm seems like a crap number that this job would need for no reason. If any of you can help a brother out, it would be appreciated. And just to make sure, I'm talking about the nut, for the bolt that goes through this thingy that's highlighted. Member Contributer Terry Posted December 23, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted December 23, 2016 On my 99, the nut is 27mm and the bolt is 22mm. Bear in mind that the bolt is also the swingarm pivot, so don't be surprised if this drops down when you pull the bolt.

dozyproductions
Thanks fellas. I didn't know that it was also the swing arm pivot bolt. Do you think that I could slide a pvc pipe in, while taking out the bolt, to keep the arm in place? .
Member Contributer KevCarver Posted December 24, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted December 24, 2016 Long screwdriver would do it. Just follow the pivot bolt as it comes out with a screwdriver and you can reinsert the bolt after the left foot peg is out.

hellindustries
That odd looking nut is a cover which will come off with a small flathead screwdriver or similar.
