Carlosfandango
Hi, I am looking for help. i have purchased a TomTom Rider and want to wire it into a switched power supply so it goes off with the ignition. Has anyone done this successfully, I am loathed to cut into the loom but cannot think of another option. A previous bike (Triumph Tiger) had a handy connector I could use, Cannot see one on the VFR. What is the best wire (Color?) to use for the live feed? I have searched the forum but haven't come across anything that helps me. Thanks Carlos
Mattie660
I did this by using the fuse box under the seat. I pulled out the fuse for the headlights and put the positive wire in there, then put the fuse back in. The negative was wired to the (-) battery terminal. It then comes on and off with the ignition. Member Contributer BonusVFR Posted December 10, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted December 10, 2015 Lots of folks have wired add on fuse boxes to VFRs for GPS and everything else. Research those posts for ideas as well.
dogman
I have done this too, over a year ago but if I recall there is a fuse marked ACC or something similar under the seat that is switched to the ignition, I spliced into that.
Member Contributer rhoderage Posted December 11, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted December 11, 2015 I would probably choose something other than the headlights myself... just in case something went wrong. But the idea is solid.
