30Bones
Removing my Oxford heated grips and want to put some better feeling grips on there. Years ago on my 1050 Sprint I had Sunline Grand Touring Grips and loved them, but they no longer are around So what does everyone prefer? Bargain grips and grip puppies? wera803
I put BMW grips on my VFR several years ago and are still happy with them. I have grip puppies on the GSXR though because it is so buzzy.
30Bones
Those look a lot like my old Sunline's. Thanks
Member Contributer MadScientist Posted September 23, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted September 23, 2015 I really like the Renthal dual compound kevlar road race grips. I don't know if Renthal is still making them, but they can be found at several places on the internet still. Don't let the road race part scare you. While they may work well for that application, I like them for long rides because they are so grippy, wet or dry, that you can relax your hand and still maintain traction on the throttle tube. Mind you, I don't have a throttle lock/cruise control, so I have to keep some grip on the throttle.
30Bones
I like those, but the color kills me. Tan? Found the BMW grips online, went to checkout and it was $13 shipping.
Member Contributer MadScientist Posted September 23, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted September 23, 2015 Yeah, sorry, that's the only way they come. And it's not even tan, more of a nasty yellow grey color. That's how much I like them.
wera803
I think Bike Bandit has them for just under $14 each, plus $9 shipping. If you search "BMW Grips VFR" on Google, there is a write-up from someone on this board (sorry, I can't copy and paste into this thread while at work). That will give you the part numbers. 30Bones
Yeah I found part numbers, that's not the issue. I have a problem paying the shipping on a small, light $25 item is all. I will keep searching, I don't need them today or anything
Member Contributer rangemaster Posted September 23, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted September 23, 2015 I really like the ProGrip 699. I put my hands up against the flair of the grip and the 699's have a very comfortable radius I haven't found on any other grip.
Member Contributer SCguy Posted September 24, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted September 24, 2015 The Progrip 714 is what you're looking for. Takes a little cutting to fit (open up the closed end for the bar ends) Very comfy. Cheap. Good looking
Member Contributer vfr350 Posted September 24, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted September 24, 2015 I put Oury's on
Aimbot9000
The cheap black foam grips that cycle gear sells where a godsend during my cross country trip and I'm still loving them 8k miles later. The downside, they hold water if rained on but normally dry out overnight.
Member Contributer deltaboxii Posted September 24, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted September 24, 2015 Been pleased with Pro Grip and just tried a set of Spyders for the newest VFR. Not many miles on them yet but so far they are nice.
30Bones
I have had the 714's and didn't like them. The 699's and Oury's are nice, I had them on my dual sports in the past.
