Spal Rad Pusher Fan(S) Mod, Anyone Try This?

Veefer800Canuck

Question

I see that some RC51 guys have put TWO of these puppies on their bikes.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this, I don't recall seeing it on the forum.

I have no idea if they would fit on an 800, either one on the left, or both. Haven't checked yet.

Well, now that I opened my mouth, there was this thread:

http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/71875-cooling-system-qs-cfm-on-fans-dual-fans/

But nobody actually mounted a SPAL.

I bought a complete VTR motor/fan used just for the blade ($10 - what did I have to lose?), thinking I would swap the blade for the VFR's to reverse the flow. I briefly toyed with the idea of seeing if that fan setup would fit inside the right rad - I gave it up due the tight clearance between the rad and cylinder head. If it fit it would only be just barely. Anything that goes in there would have to be extremely slender.

Funny, i was actually looking at those spal fans just a few weeks ago and wondering the same thing. I think they could fit / work fine at least on one side, but the biggest unknown for me would be the electrical load they would add to the system, as I didn't see the amp draw listed anywhere I looked.

Looks likes 4-6 amps depending on A-type(blowing) or S-type(sucking)
