Sorry, neglected to answer your query regarding battery life.

Longer than you are probably prepared to ride in a day. When I first bought them, Mrs Skids & I attended a rideout which lasted most of the day. Switched the Senas on as we left home, off at lunchtime, on again until we got home around 5pm. They were on "open mike" all day so constantly transmitting and receiving and there was plenty of battery left when we got home.

No idea about iphones as I refuse to pay for Apple stuff but all my HTC phones have lasted all day with less than 20% battery use. As you say though, you can always have the phone on charge if necessary. The Sena can be recharged in a few hours.
