seth89
the forks on my Gen 3 needs a little help on the exterior look. The outer tubes down at the wheel has gotten some wear and tear. I'd like some tips of what i can do. Do i need to repaint or will it do with some sanding? sorry in advance for any possibility of misspelling. /Seth
Veefer800Canuck
Your english is better than my swedish. If it were my bike, I would disassemble the forks and bead-blast the lowers with glass beads. Then, have them powdercoated.
seth89
Ok, might as well do something like that. :)
Veefer800Canuck
On your bike, they would look good in black I think.
seth89
could look good but the only other major things that´s black are the tires :P
Member Contributer MBrane Posted July 14, 2013 Member Contributer Share Posted July 14, 2013 I have painted fork lowers, and they lasted for many years before they began to patina again.

Guest
I am pretty sure I have seen the Rustoleum stuff in colors other than black, but can't be 100%

seth89
just so I don't get any ideas before the winter let's just look at "how to" options rather than color :P I've got enough plans and ideas already ;)
Member Contributer MBrane Posted July 14, 2013 Member Contributer Share Posted July 14, 2013 For painting siimply sand 'em good with 400, and shoot 'em with some good paint. 4-5 coats sanding with 600 between. I painted this whole bike with rattle-cans. Came out better than I thought it would:
Member Contributer gll429 Posted July 14, 2013 Member Contributer Share Posted July 14, 2013 you can. just sand them down .. and let them oxidize..they will turn a a dark grey color..but that will take a few months..
PhotoOp
I sanded mine with about 400 grit paper, washed them really thoroughly and painted them with the silver wheel paint they sell at the auto parts store. They look almost perfectly factory. Its a little sparkly compared to the Honda paint job but I really have to be looking. I think it was Dupli Color brand.
