artee
Hi Recently finished my wheel conversion on my vfr700 but found that the cbr600 forks are a little too short. I have used 1988-89 vfr750 triples as they use the41mm fork size required. Is there any way to either.... Extend the forks, keeping the compression and preload intact or.. Use a set of stepped top triple clamps from another model. Roger
timmythecop
did you try sliding the tubes down to flush with the top triple and using aftermarket clip-ons? either way, it has been done
Veefer800Canuck
I had custom fork caps made out of stainless steel that were identical in every respect to the stock ones, only longer. The seam between the fork leg and the fork cap where they screw together was held fast in the upper triple clamp, so the whole joint was clamped (after tightening the fork cap) which made me feel secure that it would not fail. Sorry, I have no pictures, the bike has been long since sold.
Member Contributer Kel Posted June 23, 2013 Member Contributer Share Posted June 23, 2013 did you try sliding the tubes down to flush with the top triple and using aftermarket clip-ons? +1 Slide the forks down and use some adjustable clipons( or taller ones from a different bike) under the top triple. Don't run it like it is, looks like it will hit the rad.
artee
Good call on the clipons, never thought of that. I am running the bike with no problems, it does not hit the radiator. I have had to use stiffer springs though. I have gone up to .95 Thank so far Roger did you try sliding the tubes down to flush with the top triple and using aftermarket clip-ons? either way, it has been done Where did you get my picture from?Roger

artee
Yeah that pick. This is the before pic. I have posted it on several sites, but never seen anyone else use it. Where can I find clip ons with that sort of rise? Can't find any on this side of the pond. Roger

Veefer800Canuck
Convertibars??? Gilles Variobars??? Both options more spendy than the DanMoto offering.
artee
Hi Seen those. Actually looking at the moment. Those are cheaper from Danmoto direct @ $69. Not sure how much rise I will need without a few measurements. I have also thought of going down the superbike handlebar road. I now need to curb the spending a little so I wont be jumping straight in and buying anything at the moment. Thanks for all the help chaps.
