Guest StayClassyJavi
I took my bike out this morning and coming up to the first stoplight the fork/handlebars made a clunk kind of sound and jerked a little. as i started to speed up things seemed fine until i had to stop again and it did the same thing. When i got to the freeway and started picking up speed the handlebars and front wheel started to shake left and right vigorously. Any ideas whats going on?!?! Member Contributer V-FORE Posted August 3, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted August 3, 2012 My first thought would be steering head bearings.... could just need to tighten the collar. Easy check & fix Good luck Gary
Guest
My 2000 rode just fine but I tore it apart last winter to give it a good going over. The neck bearings were horrible. If I was in your shoes, I'd replace them.
Member Contributer MaxSwell Posted August 3, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted August 3, 2012 If it is the steering head bearings, I'd recommend tapered roller bearings. After I replaced mine, the shake went out of the front end and all was well.
Member Contributer JZH Posted August 4, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted August 4, 2012 Could also be wheel bearings... Ciao,
Metallican525
Get that front end off the ground ASAP and find out what's loose before you ride again, sounds less than safe eh!
