Member Contributer MaxSwell Posted April 3, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted April 3, 2012 I've never used a R D on a motorcycle but I had an Escort 8500 for several years (stolen with my '01 GSR). While I avoided a couple of tickets, I also got more tickets WITH the detector than without it. I guess it gave me a false sense of security. Every ticket I got the detector went off but I could not get down in speed fast enough. Once, traveling across Neb. a lady pulled me over for 11 mph over, ON I80! I think she tagged me BECAUSE of the detector. I was moving it off the dash as she approched but saw the movement and got real serious. Another LEO tagged a buddy I was traveling with on I90 in Wyo. His comment: "I see you have a fuzz buster - why don't you get one that works!" He grinned as he handed over the ticket. Ouch.
Squamishvfr
Well I've gone without for some time and fortunately I've not been ticketed. Last year I didn't even get pulled over. Our little group did a run to San Fran at some high speeds and never got even pulled over. I hope good karma stays with me but I suppose it's always a risk. Be nice to the LEO's and they will be nice to you. Wow. Digging deep to resurrect a two year old thread. Lol
enzed_viffer
Here in Nu Zilund, if you're 40 km/h over the limit, you're walking home, license suspended for 28 days, points on it, and a hefty fine.
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted April 4, 2012 Member Contributer Share Posted April 4, 2012 In NL radar detectors are illegal. 50kmh over means you are walking home too
Guest
Here in BC Canada our new laws state that if you are caught 40KPH (25MPH) over the posted limit you will have your vehicle impounded for seven days plus a bunch of fines tow and storage charges. We have the same law here in New Zealand but you lose your license as well for a period of time.
