Member Contributer RolandHTG Posted September 23, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted September 23, 2010 No I am not talking about putting a car tire on a bike wheel. I want to try changing a 205/45-17 for my wife's Miata. I have done a hundred 17" bike tires with it,including lots of 190/70s; don't see why it won't do the job on a car tire. Member Contributer y2kvfr Posted September 23, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted September 23, 2010 I did my 4.80x8(???) trailer tires with it.
KanadianKen
Don't see why not - I just removed and replaced a Honda Accord tire on a rim that was corroded and needed cleaning. My NO MAR worked great - car tire seemed easier than the bike tires. Go for it.
wera803
I'm sure it will do it, although it won't be as easy as a bike tire. The 205/45 will have a very short and stiff sidewall. You may need someone to pry down the one side of the bead (maybe in a couple of places) as you pry on the other.

Member Contributer Olive Posted September 24, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted September 24, 2010 The Harbour Freight/Princes Auto tire changer is originally designed for a car tire, but has an adapter for the bike tires. It's not difficult to mount/remove a car tire using it - I've done it.
