mick
Did a search in the Tire forum and didn't see much definitive about the Storm 2's, Avon's latest dual compound tire. Guess since they've only been out a short while there hasn't been much to report although by now there should be folks who've gone through a set. Has anyone used one to the wear bars yet? If so how many miles did you get out of the rear tire? Haven't been able to ride in over six months but should be able to shortly. The Avon Storms (original version) currently on the viffer are past the wear bars and will have to be changed before I can renew my inspection sticker. I got an incredible (for me) 6500 miles out of the rear Storm. Hopefully the Storm 2's will give better mileage without sacrificing handling. Storms are the best handling ST tire out there IMO. Would like to hear a review on the new tire. :laughing6-hehe:

The ST1300 folks seem to like them so far so I don't see any reason they won't do just fine on the VFR. As mentioned, my last set were the older model Storms and I really liked them. A very good compromise between traction and wear. I also used the original Storms on the ST1100 I once owned and was pleased with them..
Member Contributer Chev Posted May 30, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted May 30, 2010 Are they harder in the middle, or softer on the edges than the origionals? I loved my previous storms, but moved to PPs for the price cut + added safety.

Here's some info on the Storm2 that will answer your question: http://sportrider.automotive.com/125172/146-0912-new-avon-storm-2-ultra-motorcycle-tire/index.html Prices don't seem too bad either. $121 for the front and $154 for the rear at Two Brothers: http://www.discount-motorcycletires.com/ 2 Bro's has a really good reputation for service among the ST crowd. This is my first time ordering from them.

This is my first time ordering from them. Would like to hear from anyone running these Hi, newbie here. I'm on my fourth or fifth set of the old Storms on my Fi and 1st set of Storm 2 Ultra's on my Vtec. Currently done almost 7k miles on them on the Vtec and there's still loads of wear left. They feel identical to the old Storm, ie. loads of grip, wet or dry, white lines and overbanding completely ignored and are approaching my usual 8k or so for the old tyre. I've heard some guys say that they give up when you push them hard; that may be bull but I have had the tyres almost to the edge and have never had a single issue with them. Recently returned from 2600 miles down to the Italian Dolomites through downpours and some beautiful scratchy roads. Loved them! Excellent tyre for the VFR if you can get them at the right price (£155 for a pair of Ultra 2's :fing02: )
