Guest motorhead1977
I would have responded but I was busy filing a patent based on the photos of the thing. Now, to collect my licensing fees................... :goofy:
Member Contributer BusyLittleShop Posted April 8, 2009 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 8, 2009 Drat, I'm too late. I was going to guess that it was a holder for the idler pulley on the belt drive - even though Larry said he wasn't going to use one... Now that the cat's out of the bag, how about some more pics and details? Belt drive mod is still on hold for a 166 tooth 11mm pitch Gates Poly Chain... Member Contributer alwaysaware Posted April 8, 2009 Member Contributer Share Posted April 8, 2009 Looks to me like the Phantom got it right and since I agreed with him I guess I did too. So whats the prize for the right answer? :goofy:
mechdziner714
Whats the weight difference between the two? You know what they say about a stiff swingarm. Edited April 8, 2009 by mechdziner714
Member Contributer y2kvfr Posted April 8, 2009 Member Contributer Share Posted April 8, 2009 Whats the weight difference between the two?You know what they say about a stiff swingarm. I was going to ask that as well. As there are some minor differences (untrained eye here), so I imagine that there must be a significant weight difference, other wise, why bother, no? Guest 300shooter
Bracket to mount the flux capacitor? I agree but I think it's for the left hand european version.
Member Contributer BusyLittleShop Posted April 8, 2009 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 8, 2009 Whats the weight difference between the two?You know what they say about a stiff swingarm. The HRC aluminum swingarm is stiffer internally with more webs to resist the loads during the rigors of WSBK racing but it actually weights in less due to it's extensive use of aluminum and titanium bits... the holy grail for us RC45 owners is the HRC magnesium swingarm which weights an whooping 3 lbs less... HRC Swingarm with internal webs... Stock RC45 Swingarm without the extra internal webs...

shrek
Very nice work. What is the advantage of moving the linkage mount aft on the HRC version? The only thing I can think of is that it would allow the use of longer dog bones (longer lever) without losing ride height...actually wouldn't that allow for higher rear ride height? I have a computer program to unlock the reasons behind the HRC linkage... I'll post the out put...
shrek
IIRC, shorter dogbones/linkage = higher ride height. On the 3rd gen I believe that it's a 3:1. e.g the Thurn linkage for my 3rd gen that I have is 11mm shorter than the standard link which equates to a 33mm increase in ride height. I'm very curious to see what your computer spits out.
