I don't ride at night that offten any more and have a head light modulator that gets me noticed....if a H4 LED gives half the light I may go with at least one for the power savings. As for illegal so are the 1157 LED's and 1156 LED's and other LED's allot of use with no issues from the law about them not being DOT approved. As for no power issues...you have never seen my bike with all the gadgets powered up and on my 97 have you? LOL you must not have many gadgets that need power to play with them on your VFR also to notice the lack of power on VFR's. :comp13: Don't get me wrong though I check my running voltages all the time to be sure I'm good. I was thinking using at least one H4 LED may get me that margin of power savings I wouldn't have to worry any more. LOL Even though I now run 90/110 H4's and have the same ones for years :fing02: that do take more then the stock lights for sure...but I refuse to go purchase more H4's even with a lower wattage. V4 Rosso Posted June 30, 2008 Share Posted June 30, 2008 I wouldn't even use them as running lights, at least not with the right lens. If you put them in the stock headlight unit I seriously question your visibility. Those LEDs may be very bright (from a short distance), they're also very small and only emit light forward in a narrow beam (not using the reflector). I seriously doubt if you get noticed by oncoming traffic, not enough lumen. If you want to cut down on electric power consumption, go HID. My current single 35W H4 HID is an improvement over my dual H4 Halogen both in visibility at night as in being noticed during the day. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Same with the LED brake lights, because of the narrow angle they "seem" bright, but the overall lumen output is very low. If you read the pages they are all going to be in the 1W power rating, I would not even experiment with them unless they were a min. of 10W, I have 2 mag lights that use 3W LED's, they sure are bright but no replacement for head lights. They can not used as headlight beam as halogen bulb does. Some of our buyers purchased them as decoration use" So this issue if dead to me at least since I want/need good lights.
