Guest hougy
This has happened a few times. It happens sometimes when I am rolling to a stop, when I am AT a stop and I shift my weight around a bit. It sounds like it's coming from the front end, and it sounds like someone is crunching a coke can. I looked at my forks and there is some rust where the inside fork meets the "larger" section. Any ideas what it could be?? | = "Large" fork portion : = "Inside" fork section * = Rust activity () = End of fork at the wheel ||||**:::::)

Member Contributer FotoMoto Posted February 10, 2008 Member Contributer Share Posted February 10, 2008 A "clunk" type of sound is usually loose or worn out steering head bearings. Not sure about a can crunching kind of sound.

Member Contributer jeremy556 Posted February 10, 2008 Member Contributer Share Posted February 10, 2008 The noise is probably steering bearings. Replace with some All Ballz Racing tapered rollers. While you have the forks off, pull them apart and at the very least change the oil, seals, and get the rust off with emory cloth and polish with 800+ grit sand paper.
