  1. Good job. On one of my wheel swaps, I just flipped the sprocket and put the dish on the inside to move it over. When it's time for a new sprocket, I'll machine the hub down to future proof sprocket options. I am still running 530 as I had a bunch of components that needed to be utilized.
  2. Interested in seeing your rear brake solution with the CBR wheel. Looks like you might have sourced a Triumph style disk that has the CBR bolt pattern, but the VFR diameter. The front was a bolt on, yes?
  3. The timeline of this thread is confusing. The pic in the first post is kind of a spoiler.
  4. Fucking metal sheds. Might as well be at the bottom of a lake.
  5. Sheds... damp ones... where bikes (usually) go to die. Good job, and just in time.
  6. Very strange definition of "ridable". 🙂
  7. Got it. You might consider roughing up the metals perpendicular to normal wear with some emery cloth and install some EBC (or equivalent) heavy duty springs. I've never had a clutch "slip once when cold". I guess it is time to verify your slave operation too. Good luck!
  8. Unless you recently decided to change to a full synth late in life, I would just do your oil change when you install the clutch.
  9. Sun bonnet! Haha!! Gage parasol. It's why I love my 1000R gages too.
  10. I actually should say, "when the VFR looked like a championship winning Superbike." That was actually a 6X. But HRC kitted production VFRs still were potent bikes that won lots of races.
  11. Yep... when the VFR was a championship winning Superbike.
  12. Haha. It is apparently his least favorite... 94 - 97 VFR, RC36-2 Just search Honda Marine Volt Meter. The CBX, SuperSport and Gold Wing Hondas had accessory ones just like it too in the 80's
  13. I need to add some more monitors. I have a couple bikes with one, but I like to have them at least partially hidden or on a toggle so I'm not staring at them.
  14. I also have a bunch of VF/VFRs with their original units in the stock locations. Of course, now that I've typed that, they will all start failing. Maybe below the rad guard might be a little better, using the coil and lower rad mounts, more out of the rad exit flow. I still think he'll be just fine with it there. As you said, yours has been baking behind the engine for years. All good discussion. It's all trade-offs, isn't it?
  15. You can also have one key cut with each number. Only one side does anything, they just cut both so you don't have orient the key before inserting. We did it at the Honda Dealership quite often. We'd paint a tiny color code on the key right below the plastic with touch up paint for a quick glance legend.
  16. Hotter than behind the rear cylinder bank/exhaust headers, bolted to the inside of the subframe, under the seat, behind a side cover? And then maybe down in a pocket? Of course as cool as possible is best, but unless you want it hanging from a rear grab rail or mounted to your lower triple clamp, I don't think there is a ideal solution on a VFR. I don't want either of those things. These bikes produce heat and things have to deal with it. I really don't want my carbs and air box right behind the hot air coming thru my radiator either, but it has to be "packaged" somewhere. I've thought of mounting one on the back side of the rear fender, but I don't really want a wire run that long. And if it's a bike that's used in any weather, it better have some really good plugs / connections to deal with a constant spray of nasty water. And a lot of my bikes that don't go in rain don't have full rear fenders anymore.
  17. And Honda makes all four of those things.
  18. That looks really good there! Small bracket for the other mount would be a good idea. Awesome.
  19. They are also commonly referred to as Pulser "Coils"
  20. It's a digital situation for an analog ignition system. It's either gonna work or not in the end. 0 or 1 Doesn't matter what it looks like.
  21. You don't know, until you know. I would have never guessed that development. In hindsight, some practice welds on the original unit would have been prudent before modding anything. The good news is if they are in the right spot, the right length and the right height when done... no one will see it. Nice setups also. Crafty, like a crow. Cheers dude.
  22. Yeah, looks great on that model. Idk... coolant and brake fluid every 2 years as normal? I would say annual on the oil change. The remaining items should be able to stay mileage related.
