  1. My VFR tipped over due to a high wind. Pushed her off the side stand over onto the right side again. I believe the side stand is too long & with the top case, is easy for a wind blown tip over. She actually fell on top of me, saving some body work damage. I replaced the badly broken bits but the sidecase scratches will have to remain. I will not replace the scratched body work this time. Just don't care to spend that much money. The worst scratches are on the right side bag lid. A decal or something like a rubber tank pad would be ideal to cover up the ugly. Any ideas?
  2. BTDT. You can use the PIAA but you have to break off the bottom two tabs & replace with a ring adapter. A quick google search has this Australian site http://www.mccruise.com/pages/h4-adaptor The ring adapters are sold in the U.S. but my usual sources have dried up long ago. I have these rings on three of my Hondas. BTW: Be sure the PIAA bulb is high vibration compliant or you will be replacing the bulb frequently. PIAA uses a longer filament that is wound tight. Vibration will burn it out. That is why Honda uses the lower wattage bulb.

A second shot of the Memorial in McGehee. ToH requires a second shot to verify you actually rode your bike there.

  12. Be sure to stop for homemade pie at Cody's in Fifty-Six, Arkansas on the Slymore Scenic Byway (AR14)
  13. Excellent photos. I should have stopped too. Here is a link to a lot of other such stuff in Texas. Great time wasting site. http://www.texasbeyondhistory.net/
  14. I have a Datel ready for this install & I had thought of the same location. It looks like you have the Datel in a box. The meter is waterproof so I am intending to just use the bazel for asthetics. Do you have other pictures?
  15. Love my vest. Had it for years. Lots of use with an Aerostich branded Warm N Safe heat 'troller. Worth evey dime.
  16. +1 Excellent garment, well made & will last for many years. I crashed in a Roadcrafter at 60mph in '94 and walked away. Totaled a CBR1000 & a Chevy Berreta. It was a terrible crash, the guy turned left in front of me while using his cellphone. Since then I wear a Roadcrafter & Arai helmet whenever I ride. Yes, it does get hot above 85 or so but a cup of ice in each pocket will keep you surprisingly cool in hot weather. I have even slept in mine on a picnic table at an Iron Butt motel. Good equipment pays for itself over time if you use it. Go to sport touring rally and check out their equipment before you purchase. I believe it would be worth your effort. HTH & good luck.
  17. Hydrogen Peroxide will desolve dead bugs & loosen their grip on your fairing. It will not mar your finish either. Baked on bugs might take longer to desolve.
  18. Army Surplus Tri-bag System, one very warm cold weather bag that stuffs into a light weight summer bag that stuffs into a Gore-Tex bivy bag. I just use the summer bag with the bivy sack. Rarely pitch a tent, always dry. I think I paid $50 ten years ago for the whole system at a Gun & Knife Show. Works great. Made by Slumberjay (?). If you want new try Wiggy's at either Aerostich or direct...http://www.wiggys.com/
  19. + 1. I use it often. It was very handy on my ride to Alaska last year.
  20. Another option would be to have the OEM shock serviced. I sent my CBR's shock to Lindemann Engineering & including shipping the total cost was about $175. http://www.le-suspension.com/ I sent them an email for an estimate, it was spot on. Turn around time was very quick. HTH

  23. I once did an 800 mile day while wearing Under Armour's boxer briefs and the panel stiching chaffed & cut the backside of my leg. I learned to wear underware that does not have any stiching towards the sides. You want the type with the stiching down the center. You might want to consider the one made by LDComfort dot com. They are pricey but work very well.
  24. I have four Arai helmets, all are the Quantum model & I buy a new one every five to seven years. I ordered the first two over the phone before the internet using my hat size as a gage. Comfortable helmets but in reality they were one size two large. I was 'fitted' by an Arai Rep at one of the Cycle World MC shows & the Quantum/e was/is the best fitting most comfortable helmet I have ever owned but after 100K miles and a new VFR I ordered a Quantum II and guess what? Arai changed the shell shape & design of the QII. I should have been fitted, again. My advice is to drive or ride to the nearest dealer, get fitted for the helmet you like and offer to buy it at the internet price you found. If they don't sell it to you at that price then order it off the internet. It will be worth the effort to be fitted, IMO. Good luck.
