  1. How many have or have tried bar risers and/or lowered pegs and what are your thoughts? I have both and feel they help make it a perfect S/T. With the more agressive forward riding position (than most modern ST's) suited for mountain carving, the bar risers and lowered pegs help with comfort getting there. I would of left it alone if I lived in the mountains or didn't have a VTR1000 with stock riding position for day trips.
  2. Everyone's mind works definitely some need though distractions to focus some prefer music to block everything else out. I fall in the latter category. When I don't have NPR on at work my mind wanders to personal matters and worries and dreams etc. The radio is a slight distraction but it keeps the distraction in the room. This applies even more to riding with music. In the country I like to let the images speak to me but in the traffic getting there music helps me keep my cool and focus on getting where I need to go.

Block out the white noise and seal in the music and you will be happy with medium quality buds. They also must stay in place when sliding a helmet on. A skull cap helps with this when pulled down over the ears. I found $30 JBL's that did fit and sealed and blew away earbuds that cost $100+ that sounded way better sitting on my couch. It's all about the application.

  5. It's a perfect bike for me. I needed an update for my Superhawk VTR and Ninja1000 was not it. It was a hard beast to tame. Simple chin over wrist didn't cut it. My short torso required I hang off the side on anything more than a sweeper. VFR is much better engineered and refined and just enough more aggressive riding position.

  9. I've been ridng since I 1st strapped a Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine on a bicycle age 10. That was after I made a 3 wheel chopper that was half Schwinn Stingray with ape hangers and 2x4's with go kart wheels with L brackets for footpegs. I was a 9 year old easy rider🤪
  10. I saw a topic in another forum titled "how many older people ride a VFR?" I think the better question is how many younger people ride a VFR? I wouldn't be surprised if the average age of a VFR owner is about 50. I've always considered a VFR owner to be a typical middle age Daredevil such as myself🤪 I'm 58 going on 16

  12. I scoured thru-hikerrs YouTube videos because they have the same requirements: small, lightweight and effective. The good ones usually make thier best suggestion and also offer lower budget alternatives. I am a cheap ass and scored this for $100. It compared well to tents in the $300-$400 price range so I gave it a shot. It now sells for $75 and even cheaper on Scamazon. After 2 years it has held up real well. The only knock it had in reviews is a suggestion to seal the seams which I haven't gotten around to yet. I spent a night in a downpour with no leaks.   13. I started a Facebook group last year for VFR riders of Driftless Wisconsin. Being from Chicago I thought it might be a good way to link up with folks that really appreciate riding in this region of the country that wasn't scraped flat by the last ice age. We plan rides, camp- outs & let folks fortunate enough to live there when we'll be passing through. VFR's attract distinguished gentlefolk that morph into discerning adrenaline junkies on motorbikes.   14. I have a can of Motul chain lube to try for comparison but have been using the Motul chain paste for the last few years religiously and love it! I always 1st clean the chain with kerosene.

  16. Great bike! I got mine 2014 in March and love it! It's a heavy bike that is still pretty nimble in the twisties. Perfect ergonomics and just the right amount of rider aids. Enjoy!
