simo5555 replied to VFRUNNER's topic in Sixth Generation VFR's
So finally was able to put her together, cleaned her up and took her for a spin today. Spring is just around the corner. -
The MSP still lists them for sale. Might be worth checking out: https://www.motorcyclespareparts.eu/en/honda-parts/2001-vfr800fi-motorcycles/f-10-front-fork

Tail Light/Front Turn Signal Conversion

What you need is a T20S amber sockets (honda part no. 33303-SAA-003) and oval shaped connectors for them (part no. 04321-S5A-307P). Its the newer honda connector that replaced the old one (not sure why). You can just solder the connector to your existing wiring - no need to rewire the main harness. Its just 2 wires. The T20S socket was also used in some newer Civics and some acuras so you might find the connectors from your local scrapyard for next to nothing. Or you could ask from dealership for them. Not sure about the US, but in europe it costs something like 15€ for a set of connector. The brake light socket should be the same as the old one. -

Yup, i was too originally going to powdercoat mine too but the workshop didnt have the time back then. So i painted the wheels on my own and tried to make as good of a job as i could. The plan is to see how well it holds up and If it starts to chip, then i definitely will powdercoat mine too. Do you have any pictures with the gunmetal wheels on your bike? Really like to see how they look -

So yeah. Painted the seat cover, installed a new tire and did the shindengen upgrade. Also installed the gear indicator. Fork seals and oil change is next. Then the front wheel bearings and paint and im ready to ride! -
I got a brand new set of Brembo sintered brake pads for my bike. Has anyone tried them and can share some experience on how well does the oem brake discs on the 6th gen handle them? Hows the braking power? Not too harsh? Any noticeable wear of the discs?

Hope you liked it here. I´ve lived here all my life and i still haven´t visited the Kuressaare yet. Was hoping to go there this summer, but we´ll see. Thats one sweet looking bike. A good friend of mine owns one too (white with gold wheels) and i got to ride it once. Scared the crap out of me - the torque is insane

Thats bad. Luckily, we still have the ethanol free E98E0 for sale. I use this in my bike and it has worked just fine. We also have the E95E10 too. The rescue service, military etc started to complain that the ethanol will ruin their equipment. Not to mention the motorcyclist, lawnmowers, car drivers etc. The fuel companies hated it so one of them introduced the new diesel made entirely with renewable sources (bio-methane and biowaste mostly mixed with some type of parafin-like stuff) a few months ago called nexbtl diesel. So selling this and the cng biogas, the fuel company will fulfill the required co2 emission reduction set by the government and can keep selling the regular, ethanol-free fuel too.

you can always do this 😄 :

So, i drilled out the bent pipes on my bike today. Sure was pretty pain in the a... to do it. I used a 16mm drill bit and heavy-duty drill. It now has a nice mellow growl on idle. Sounds really good. Its not any louder than the stock exhaust. It sounds similar to the arrow exhaust i had before. Im going to use a dremel later on to make the holes a bit cleaner. Just didnt have the time today. I didnt have the countersink so i left the straight pipes alone for now. And here's a video Don't know how well my S8 picks up the sound, but still. Its not a huge difference compared to the stock, but there's definitely a mellow growling on idle which wasn't there before. I didn't want really loud or throaty exhaust, just add some juice to the sound and that's exactly what i got. Firstly i'll clean up the holes and see how it sounds then. I might drill the rest of the pipes too. All in all, i'm really happy. Hope this info might help someone who's considering about doing it.

Im just about to swap out my RR (on 6gen) for the mosfet one. Heres what it looks like with my own home-made harness. Still missing the fuse block.

So, finally got some time during weekend to work on my bike. Did some mechanical work, installed the painted wheel - looks good even without the tyre and also swapped out the ugly exhaust for a good OEM one. Always liked the stock look of the bike. Installed the seat cowl (that needs paint thou) and rear grab handles too. -
Are gen5 and gen6 levers interchangeable?
simo5555 replied to simo5555's question in Modification Questions
Are you sure they´re different? Was digging around myself too and found that the gen5 and gen6 levers even share the same part number. -

Thanks guys! -
So as the title says, do gen5 levers fit onto the gen6 bike? I have the gen6 vtec model and previous owner had installed some Chinese aftermarket levers on it. They´re pretty good and i really like them, but they´re a bit short for me. So i was digging around and found the long version of the same levers online. But they´re for the 1998-2000 model so i was thinking is there any real difference between them? Can i install and use them on my bike?

Aftermarket fairings from China? WHERE to get???

aliexpress.com for example has a lot of them for sale. -
I know this thread is super old, but i thought i might help someone. I did the simple drawing (using my sick paint skills, lol) showing both mods: The drilling and gutting. Please bare in mind that i haven´ t mod my exhaust yet so i can´t comment on the results. This is the stock exhaust flow: If anyone can confirm the make it growl mod - do you drill straight through the bent pipe opening it up to the third chamber and drill the back wall through the hole in the pipe? Or do you force the drill bit to bore the pipe sleightly to make it easier for the bit to follow the bend leaving the pipe walls intact? I will drill mine at some point and try to make a comparison audio clips. The ones on this thread won´t work anymore. If anyone still has them - let us know. Hope they might help someone.

Always hated the black wheels on my bike so today i bit the bullet and decided to do something about it. I took the rear wheel off, sanded it down, sprayed some filler, primer and silver paint with clear coat on it and it came out great! I'll install some white rim tape before putting it back on my bike. I think they will look great on a red bike.
