  1. I had already replaced the existing fork springs with Racetech ones. That alone made a big improvement. I’m going one step further later this year to add the gold valve kit.
  2. Thanks to all for the replies. Indeed, the stock shock length for the catless vs cat years was confirmed to be 325 mm. Getting the Penske shock into the 2000 was a bit challenging because you have to install the upper shock bracket AFTER you slide the shock into place. This makes it impossible to get the torque value on the nut/bolt that holds it in place at the top of the shock because you can’t get a torque wrench in there. Then, you have to play with the height of the swingarm to align the plates, shock link and nuts and bolts to get everything to fit together. The shock was fully refurbished before installation as it had about 50k kms on it. The existing spring was retained as it was in the range for my weight. Shock is installed and ready to go! Thanks again.
  3. Hi all, I have removed the rear shock from my 2000 5th Gen and while it’s out would like to clean and repack the needle bearings in the dog bone. Given the age of the bike, I’m replacing the seals. The bearings look good, no rust. To clean them, can I use a solvent like kerosene with a toothbrush? Then blow out the remaining solvent with compressed air, and then repack?
  4. That rear rack looks like a Hepco and Becker. I had one on my Gen 6 and loved it for the style and utility. They make great equipment, and you pay for it.
  5. I have a Penske shock that was installed in a 99 VFR. This bike is now becoming a parts bike. I would like to install it in my 2000 VFR to replace the stock unit. Can anyone confirm the eye to eye length of the shocks from these years is the same? The part numbers are a bit different: 1999: 52400MBG003 2000: 52400MBGE01
  6. As the title says. Good condition. No rot. $100 Note - this is from a ‘99 so it is catless. PM for for pics.
  7. Jason you mentioned taking apart the turn signal, cleaning and lubing. I have the same issue. What solvents did you use? Also, what polish did you use on the turn signal lenses? Thanks!
  8. This is just not fair😩
  9. I installed a set of Race Tech springs yesterday and ran into an issue. After emptying the old oil and flushing with a solvent, I then filled the slider, fully compressed, spring out, with the recommended max fluid amount - 457cc. Then the manual says the fluid should be 130 mm from the top of the fork. It wasn’t so I had to add another 45cc to get it to 130 from the top. What’s right? The amount of fluid or distance from the top?
  10. I have a 5th gen with a Staintune high mount exhaust. I’m looking for the exhaust baffle to bring the dbs down a bit. Please pm if you have one. Thanks
  11. SOLD. $35+shipping from Toronto, Canada Used but not abused.
  12. Tom, you never cease to amaze! Beautiful machines with so much attention to detail. I decided this winter to take advantage of winter shop rates and take my 900F in for engine work. Will be doing valve seals and once they "clean up the top end" we'll see how the rest of it looks.
  13. Sorry for the double post. Excellent feedback and much appreciated. I’m looking forward to watching this forum again. Now, if I can only get someone to buy that ST....
  14. Dutchy ! I was hoping you would see my post. My wife and I had planned a trip to The Netherlands pre-Covid but of course that all fell apart. Would’ve been great to see you.
