  1. Man...some great pics. Those planes are some of my favorites of all time. B-58 Hustler, SR-71 Blackbird, F-107A experimental interceptor, "Guppy" transport plane, the Blue Angles plane was a F-111 TigerShark (I believe)...dude, those are some rare mothers. Great pics and I would type more adjectives but now; I gotta go look at those planes again!
  2. Cool deal West! Let us see them when they are mounted on your bike. Thanks, JD

    Shinkos, Anyone?

Good info! My wife works for a major tire manufacture and we nearly always buy that brand of tire. When the Koreans started importing tires everyone dogged them out. Include me in that as well. Long story short, I bought a set of 19" wheels on ebay and they came with new unheard of Korean tires. Hell, I can't even remember their name and they are on my car. I expected to get 20,000 miles out of them but they are no where worn and I have 20K on them now. Best of all, they stick like glue. There is an exit ramp I take every morning and with the 19" 'crappy' Korean tires, I go through there in 3rd gear at 50 mph and exit going into 5 gear at 65 mph. The Michelins I had on the car when I bought it new would only allow me to enter at 40-45 and exit at 50 mph. Call me stupid but I have not found the magical tree with $100.00 bills begging me to pick them. That's the main reason I want to try them. If the 919 can handle them, I will probably try them on the VFR.

I have a 2003 CB919 and will be needing some new rubber soon. I have considered these but have not bought any yet. Let us know how you like them and if I buy any, I'll do the same. Since I commute 80 miles a day, they be just what I need. Thanks, JD

  6. Gang, I was doing a little surfing between storms and found this site, Jackets4bikes. Here are a few of the suits they are offering. The red/whit/black suit is on sale for $189.00 and the blue/black suit is $239.00 and I think they have free shipping too. Has any one heard of them or tried them? I know they are not top quality but they have to be better than my "cloth" Tourmaster gear; right? Thanks, JD ElegentX3-Red-f11.jpg Boltman_Leather_Suit-Blue-f1.jpg

  8. Nice set-up! Keep posting pictures and updates on your project. Thanks, JD
  9. Good idea BR! I have seen several mentions about the Ebay VFR fairing packages which look awesome and on the track, you'll look like you have full sponsorship. I have had this picture as a screen saver from time to time so this may give you some ideas. Good luck, JD 6a00e3981df7fc883300e54f345a3b8834-800wi.jpg

Just a few pics of raced VFRs.
  12. I bet I have read this type of comment 20 times or more since I joined this site. The cleaning of white wheels is a non-issue unless you neglect your bike. I have owned my share of white wheeled bikes. Some came painted white from the factory and some I had painted or powder coated. Other than black, any wheel painted will take a little more care but if you don't wash your bike, ride in the rain multiple times before washing your bike or live on a dirt road - don't paint them at all, just used primer. To help those with thoughts of going with yellow, bronze, white or any other light color, here is some useful tips. 1.) After a good detailing, wax the wheels - a PIA but worth the investment in time. 2 times a season is all that is required 2.) On the back wheel, on the chain side, leave a light coat of dried white wax. I have never had another person ask me about it 3.) S100 works great but don't ride 5,000 miles between uses 4.) After riding for long periods, brake dust will build up and be more visible so use compressed air to blow it off between washes 5.) Finally, I have seen alot of riders who either don't lube their chain or use too much. Too much and your wheel look like crap. After a good coating has been applied, use a clean disposable rag to wipe the chain down, inside and out. I usually spray WD-40 on the rag before using it on the chain. Most importantly, don't let people talk you out of adding a little style to your rides. Hell, we all could ride black bikes but that would force Timmy to probably go all white! :fing02: Good luck and don't forget to post before and after pics.
