  1. Nice, I might have to grab a couple from you when I finish the wiring on my 750 build (that's taking much longer than I wanted)
  2. The one I sent you was from a GSXR ('06ish 1000 I think). The ends are all the same on the units so I think they can all be swapped out for each other.
  3. The Yellow Peril is looking a little more like charcoal, is the next $10 for a fresh coat? Good job, here's to low budget ingenuity :fing02: (and elbow grease; golly, 3ft?)
  4. +1 as above, I'd replace so you won't have to worry about it. I have some extra triples too if you need them Sorry to hear about your crash
  5. i am looking for a complete NC30 rear eccentric, carrier and the all so i can do a complete swap on the 98 VFR arm. At the same time i can check to see if the NC carrier will fit the RC spindle. If it does i would like to move ahead and get soem neat billet carriers made that would both work for me and my VFR arm project, my RC30 and hopefully some of youz I'm interested in this as well, I've fitted a Triumph eccentric/hub/axle and Ducati rim to my '95 and just had to get someone to trim and rethread the axle and place some spacers to align everything. The Triumph axle will work with a 4th gen VFR hub (spacing is a little different), so I bet it would work with a VFR400 as well. If I can get an NC30 or 35 hub/sprocket carrier I can put it on my project bike and tell you if it works
  6. ha :laughing6-hehe: Congrats on the new bike (and great deal)
  7. +1, with the luggage and low miles I'd say that's a good deal. 14k is nothing on a VFR, and depending on which luggage they have it can be pretty expensive if you're buying it yourself
  8. Good work I didn't see where your oil radiator is going, I'm going to need to relocate mine and am wondering if there are some kits that would fit?
  9. ha, it peaks at 88mph though I would remove it if I were you, I've taken it off my carb'd bikes and it sounds like the FI versions have the same story (no/slight performance effects, less clutter) If you're looking for some block off plates I found some Busa emission block off plates work great for the 4th gen, if they changed the spacing all you need is a hacksaw and drill press and some aluminum bar stock to patch up the engine.
  10. Welcome You can usually find a really good 5th gen for about $4000 around here, that might be my recommendation because it still has the gear driven cams. I started out with a 2nd gen and then got a 4th, and then another 4th for a build project, so I'm a little partial to the earlier years (and would love to have a 3rd sometime). If you're looking to get some hard cases for it, you can get factory cases for the 6th gen which look much better than the Givi setups. Post some pics when you find one
  11. If you tell me what specific parts you're looking for, I can always look at ebay.de and other local ebay sites here. A friend of mine just got a newer VFR 400 a few months ago for right around $2500.00. Parts are easier to get over here, and shipping won't cost too much because of my Military status. I've been thinking about an NC30 drive as well, I think my Triumph axle has the same mesh and axle size as the VFR750 (can check tomorrow) but I'm not sure if the length will be enough. Douglas, I'd be willing to buy one and try it out as long as the shipping isn't too expensive. Looks like the stock gearing for the NC30 is 40T, stock for VFR750 is 43T. Know where to source sprockets? I've found that the '93-'95 CBR900 front sprocket is the same as the VFR, maybe something like that will work out
  12. I'll have to say sometimes that codpiece comes in handy Signed, Skateboarders
  13. Welcome You won't hear of anyone mocking your RC30 here, all of us wish we could have one next to our mass produced VFRs. If I could ever find one for a rebuild project I'd be elated (and have to get a promotion or a higher paying job) Very nice work
  14. I always check all side roads for cars. Creepers are the worst because you don't know if they've seen you or not. I once had a truck back out of a farm into my lane, facing me. Never understand that one, but good thing I was watching and could see him the entire time.
  15. Welcome I don't have a lot more to say that Viffer93 hasn't, think he pretty much covered it. The TBR headers are really nice, be prepared to spend $300 for it though (and I'd go for the left exit). As Veefer said the 4th gen (94-97) headers and collector will work and will be much cheaper. 14.5V sounds a little high, but it's probably fine. I'd replace the R/R while you're thinking about it, I spliced in a SV650 unit to mine, you can find them for less than $20 and keep your current one as a spare. Plus check all the connectors, they seem to burn out. If you're going for an undertail exhaust, you might want to replace the subframe with one that already has the exhaust there. Some have put the 6th gen (02-09) tail on their 4th gens (pioneered by Fotomoto), not sure how it will work with a 3rd gen though. Looks like a great project

    RV4?

I am very impressed, very nice work. I'm also a fan of the 4th gen and have one I'm building up and plan to have fun with since I already have a good commuter/touring 4th gen. First I want to get it going and then start swapping out some parts for weight savings, ultimate dream of boring the pistons but that will probably have to wait until I'm rich and famous. I'm interested in the water pump modification first, how much work was involved with this, and did you re-route the hoses? I can imagine you could save a bit of weight since you don't have to use the stock water pump position. Edit: Just saw the water pump location in the pic. Two more questions though, is that the stock radiator, and where is the oil radiator placed?
  17. "It's pretty awesome if you consider how much fun you can have on a $2500 motorcycle" +1, love these 4th gens. Maybe someday I'll try something newer... just not today:) Great ride report, thanks for posting it up
  18. Great, thanks for the update

yeah, I popped these off and they looked so good I didn't even clean them. Been running for about 20k miles too :)
  20. +1 (except I think there's mainly nice folks on VFR's :fing02: )
  21. When stopped? I don't give it a second thought, just making the line shorter, they are no closer to me than a car in another lane. I don't mind sharing my lane, usually nod or chat about the weather, depending on how friendly the other guy is (and usually the Harley guys will chat with me, just get a nod from the sport bikers). But I always go by the rule that whoever is in the left side of the lane leads out and one on the right side follows. I haven't had any problems with other riders waving me on, but I did have a minivan try to get me to pass on a double yellow just before a curve in the road. The driver even stopped in the road, I still didn't pass because I couldn't be sure what was around the corner, I stopped and motioned to the double yellow. After that I went really slow and let them go over the next hill
  22. Thanks, very good write-up. I might have to do the same on mine now

    RV4?

I think the 750 engine is about 170lb dry, so maybe the 280lb total weight was a typo and really meant 380lbs. Still like it though, would like to see the exhaust work under the body, but looks very nice all around
